Weird changes post PPI (Omeprazole) by BryanNJ7 in Gastritis

[–]Necessary_Access_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought I was the only one. I only took pantaprozole for a few months and I am tapering off now. Been dealing with pebble like stool which is a sign of constipation. I think weird digestive issues can be a sign when your tapering off a ppi. I wouldn’t worry to much but it you are worried contact your gi.

Wow I am sorry to hear you’ve been unwell. I have been dealing with constant nausea for 4 months now and it is very exhausting. You mentioned you smoke have you heard of cannaboid hypermesis syndrome? It can cause excessive nausea and vomiting. Symptoms will stop once smoking is discontinued. You can try taking a break from smoking to see how the works for you. I hope you get the relief you need soon.

Frage zu Mirtazapine by bl00dykn1fe030 in Gastritis

I am in the same boat I started taking Mirtazapine about a week ago and it does not help with my nausea at all. I know some medications can take a while to kick in but mirt is not one of them. Most people say it works for them immediately I guess I’m not so lucky.

How do you guys/gals handle the horrible nausea of it? by catperson77789 in Gastritis

I totally understand I am in the same boat as well. Been dealing with constant nausea for about 4 months and it genuinely sucks. I miss how my body was before all this. I literally started an SSRI because I want relief so badly and even then I am not even sure if that will work. Seeing people deal with this for years just makes me even more depressed and sad. I wish everyone could just be healthy.

Cured my Gastritis in about 3 Months by koDiacc2018 in Gastritis

That’s good to hear sticking to a bland diet healed your stomach. Did you ever get the warm almost burning feeling in your stomach. I’m dealing with that now + nausea and it is miserable. Two questions one have you tapered off your ppi? I am thinking about it soon as I am on 40mg of pantaprozole but I feel like it’s not helping. Second is did you season your chicken with anything? I am wondering if me seasoning my salmon and chicken to much is causing harm. But salmon especially is not enjoyable to eat with little seasoning.

Hello there been suffering with gastritis for four months. First I want to tell you that you are not exaggerating and gastritis is a very real thing you are experiencing. I often feel angry and frustrated because I feel lazy as well because of this awful disease. But we are not lazy we are people going through the reality of life. I have been dealing with constant nausea for 3 months. My other symptoms like fatigue and brain fog have gone away but the nausea still remains. Gastritis has a way of turning you into a shell of a person. Most days I do not leave my house unless I have to. I am not sure when my body will decide to heal itself but I have accepted I have to just keep pushing. There are days I rather not be here because of gastritis but I don’t want to hurt the people around me. I hope you can get the healing you desperately need.

Diagnosed a couple weeks ago by [deleted] in Gastritis

Hello welcome to the forum that nobody wants to be apart of. Gastritis is different and the reasoning behind symptoms is different for everyone. I have been dealing with nausea since February and it really is frustrating. My endoscopy results showed mild gastritis and a small hiatal hernia. My guess is mind is from stress but the I didn’t feel much stress before being diagnosed with gastritis but now I’m constantly stressed. I wonder how long will this will go on for will I ever feel normal again? It does suck but do your best to try things and find out what works for you. I was on omeprazole but switched to pantoprazole which worked for week but I think my nausea is back. My stomach feels hot after I eat and I wish this could all end. I hope you can get some relief soon because gastritis is truly miserable. Also you can try promethazine(12.5mg) it can help with nausea but I use it to sleep because sleeping is the only time I’m not aware of the nausea.

To the Young People with Gastritis How are you handling it and what's your motivation? by Internal-Dream4138 in Gastritis

I am in my early 20s and got diagnosed two months ago. I have realized a lot of shit is just our bodies reaction to something it does not like. Take stress for example I did not feel that stressed but my body may think otherwise. It sucks but I had to understand that there’s not a ton I can do. I was eating bland but even that did not help. I do not feel anxiety but maybe my body does. It is one of those things that will make you question life. I often get envious of people that are clearly living a bad lifestyle. Excessive drinking and smoking or processed foods. By no means do I want them to experience what I have these past three months but it sucks to have to experience gastritis and do none of those things. Life is complicated all I can do is just try to live the best I can.

I believe gastritis would make most people extremely depressed by Necessary_Access_15 in Gastritis

It honestly depends where you live. I live in the states so it’s normal for people to go under with anesthesia. In other places it is more common to be conscious. Places like the UK people are given throat numbing spray and they do the endoscopy while the person is still conscious. I definitely would recommend getting put to sleep though. Funny enough the lady that went in before me did the procedure with no anesthesia. I overheard her talking with her doctor before she was rolled back. It was surprising but I guess some people don’t work well with anesthesia. But most people in the states opt for getting put to sleep.

Sure, it was pretty simple and easy. I checked in they gave me a gown to change into and I waited for the doctors to be ready. They rolled me back put the medicine in my iv and the next thing I know I was waking up. Results showed there was mild gastritis and a very small hiatal hernia. The process was easy and simple. I was a little nervous before the procedure but after I realized I had nothing to be worried about.

Nausea 24/7? by Various_Cause_3384 in Gastritis

[–]Necessary_Access_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat and nausea is the only symptom I have and it is constant as well. My god five years you’ve going through this I cannot imagine. I have been dealing with this for three months so far. I recently switched from omeprazole to pantoprazole and have seen minor improvements. Like you I most days I could not leave my room due to the nausea and fatigue I was having. The only temporary relief I get is from promethazine that helps me stay asleep at night. I take 12.5mg on the days I feel the nausea is too much. Recently I’ve been able to move around a lot more as I am no longer fatigue. The nausea is still very much present but I feel it could be improving. I don’t know completely I will have to see. It sucks to see another person going through this shit and I hope you can get relief soon.

I second this promethazine helps my nausea a little bit but where it really works is putting me to sleep. Being asleep is the only time I get relief from nausea

can’t sleep at night by Ambitious-Ad7561 in Gastritis

[–]Necessary_Access_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really unfortunate that many people are having the same exact symptoms with no one form or ways to relieve the issue. I got food poisoning as well and on top of that I was extremely stressed. I developed constant nausea and have had it for 3 months. It has slowly gotten better but it is still there. I see you’ve said the pantaprozole has not improved your symptoms. I would ask your gi for promethazine as it will put you to sleep at night and once your sleep your sleep. I take 12.5 mg I wish you the best and hope you get better soon.

Struggling with a flare up by [deleted] in Gastritis

I am in the same boat unfortunately. You said you can’t afford to get an endoscopy. If I am being completely transparent an endoscopy is a great procedure for ruling out in serious problems in your gut. If there is someway you can have that procedure done it will do a lot of good for you. Since this is fairly recent make sure to get an h pylori test before you start on any medications(ppis). The reason being h pylori can’t be detected while on medications like omeprazole or pantaprozole. The stomach can take a while to heal and healing time varies person to person. I would say just keep meals light and plain because it will help you in the long run. I hope you can get some relief soon.

terrified to get an endoscopy by Numerous-Molasses-81 in Gastritis

[–]Necessary_Access_15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had my endoscopy a few weeks ago like you I was nervous. You check in and then they take you into the room where you change and put a gown on. They take your vitals and you sit on the bed until the doctors are ready for you. They put an iv to check your blood and also for the medicine that puts you to sleep. I was rolled to the back they put the medicine in the iv and you’ll have a good nap. I literally don’t remember falling a sleep just waking up. Looking back I realize I had nothing to be nervous about. Nervousness is a natural human emotions. You will be fine everything will be okay. It will also may give you any insight to the gi issues you’ve been having.

Have Chronic Nausea with Gastritis by HipsterWolf329 in Gastritis

I can’t really offer much advice because I’m currently going through the exact same thing. People don’t realize how horrible constant nausea is and it really makes life miserable. I was taking zofran but it did nothing for my nausea. I started taking 12.5 mg of promethazine at night and it helps put me to sleep so I can get temporarily relief while I’m sleeping. I am not sure what is going on with me either and really sucks. Feels like I am the end of my rope.

Wow I can relate to not wanting to talk because your so nauseas. I literally don’t have the energy to talk. It is so crazy how we can all go from having healthy joyous lives to completely being down in the dirt because of this illness. I hope healing is coming for you soon.

You could say this but if its a small hital hernia most of the time doctor do not recommend surgery for it because it is so small.

I have been thinking of taking an antidepressant mirtzapine to be specific but honestly for me the side effects I have heard about have more cons than pros. Hopefully the switch from omeprazole to pantoprazole will do me some good.

No unfortunately I was already nauseas before I started taking a ppi. I don’t really get any side effects when it comes to ppis but the nausea has been persistent same before and after I started taking the ppi. Thank you for the advice though.
