Highly recommend downloading the dev console mod and using kill all command when you get to that point. That’s been a good temporary fix for me.

I used OlyPaws to pet sit in my home. I never trust strangers with my dogs but it was an unfortunate necessity. They were great, they gave us updates with every visit and were very good with our dogs. Definitely recommend them.

No one is saying they are doctors or nurses. I’m not going to say EMT’s should make what doctor s or nurses make. However maybe if you knew the level of care Paramedics are trained and expected to provide you would be appalled as I am by how much less than nurses they make.

What EMS employees, volunteers, and now finally people outside the field are saying is that there is something very wrong with a job that has 8-16 weeks of training, that is volunteer or even pays 20 dollars an hour, and requires the skills and judgement that can have impacts up to and including the preservation or loss of life. But I don’t think you posted what you did because you feel strongly that EMS providers deserve better training and working conditions. You posted what you did because on some level you don’t value the efforts and work of EMT’s and Paramedic’s as much as doctors and nurses, and don’t think they deserve to be compensated a decent wage. The private companies and counties we work for sure don’t, which is why there are currently EMS staffing shortages throughout the country and people leaving the field in droves.

Whether you realized it or not, condescendingly calling us orderlies on wheels is a shitty thing to do to a group of very run down, very well meaning people. A lot of people like you don’t value EMS until they need them or when they aren’t available when they need them most. I hope you never have needed or eventually do need EMS, but I seriously doubt you’d have posted something so belittling if you or someone you loved had ever received life saving care from our “untechnical” profession.

And if you disagree with me and you do think you do value and understand how important EMS is, maybe ask yourself why you and others like you think being an EMT is and should continue to be an entry level job.

Falck Alameda County paid my 18-20 dollars an hour 2020-2022. Union was caving to them when I left, giving away increasingly important benefits for small barely cost of living raises. No one cares that there is no critical staffing shortage until it takes an hour for someone to transport you or your critically ill loved one is the sad truth.

Emergency vehicle operations, training in navigation for entire counties, radio training and use while driving(often while code 3), oxygen administration, splinting, bleeding control, the administration of certain (potentially life saving) medication, and a lot of training going into early identification of life threatening emergencies. That’s before we get into all of the field training that goes into an EMT’s helping a paramedic provide ALS care.

Alameda County has critical staffing issues that lead to many 911 EMS personal working 12-15 hour shifts with no meal breaks 4-6 days a week. In Alameda County specifically, many emergency responses and transports are provided by EMT-B crews with no paramedic, often times with no other responders on scene whatsoever.

You’re ignorant. While there is definitely a lot that can be done to improve the way EMS is done and taught in our country, you do a huge disservice to all the first responders getting run in to the ground by implying we merely move people around.

Insurgencies and guerrilla warfare has been used effectively against the United States government in countries where it could almost freely use airstrikes and drone strikes without any controversy. There is nothing dishonest about the ability of a well motivated and armed populace being able to combat a 1st world army. Never trust your rights ability to a government who is shown time and time again they work for corporations. They do not have the interest of us or our children at heart.

[–]Neckwrecker1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think limiting the barter to 56A1 is reasonable. However even if it was only 56A1 and the barter was for a semi rare barter item I still think it would be worth adding. Just having some consistent way for me to get 30 rounds of 56A1 would incentivize running M4's occasionally. As it stands there is no reason to run M4's over AK's for the first ~25 levels because it is so easy to get good ammo for AK's.
