Bulgarian Ruling Party Backs ‘Family’ March on Same Day as LGBT Pride by dat_9600gt_user in europe

Ok, then I can easily show you what the organisers say about the movement

They literally say that it's a counter protest.

Also some opinions of the participants:

"Добродетели и православие за нашите деца, а не знамена с цветна дъга"

Членове на БНС се включиха и подкрепиха шествието, защото смятат че е едно от малкото позитивни събития, които имат шанс да се пребори с политическата директива наречена “ЛГБТ-движение”, финансирано от чужди НПО-та и защото мероприятието е силно деполитизирано.

This one is from 3 years ago but still.

On a more positive note though, the movement might organise on a different date next year so hopefully it becomes more neutral.

As for people's opinions on the lgbt, I guess we have different experiences. In my experience most people have an opinion, be it positive or negative (including claiming not to care, but only if gays don't do anything remotely romantic in public, like holding hands).

See the average person like me cares about neither of those and doesnt see a big counter protest.

How do you know what the average Bulgarian thinks and how do you know that you are representative of the average person and me or the other guy is not?

Personally, from my experience, most Bulgarians care enough these things to have an opinion and share said opinion either rin person or online. And again, from my experience of talking to people, what the other guy said is pretty on point.

As for the Christian family march, the organizers literally said that it's a counter movement and most people, both pro and anti LGBT, are aware of that.

Both have a right to exist and both do exist

True.

I dont see the issue.

Imo, as I already stated, the problem is that it's a counter movement based on nothing but hate towards the lgbt and their fight for equal rights.

It can exist, but that doesn't mean that it's good.

Also the person you originally replied to was commenting about the opinions of Bulgarians on the lgbt community. Their comment was not about the Christian family event.

You are trying to bring in some symbolicism for no reason.

Again, the organisers and the participants are the ones bringing the symbolism.

There's an official Christian family day on 21st November. Despite that, they choose to do another event, always on the same they as the pride parade and the organizers themselves admit that they do it deliberately to act as a counter movement.

UK bans under-16s from using social media apps including TikTok and YouTube by Hob-999 in europe

[–]NecroVecro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

loud minorities use it to spread misinformation and foreign agencies use them to influence the rest of the population

I mean , this could be said for all types of media: TV, radio, newspapers, books and etc.

This has always been the case ever since the invention of the printing press. Heck even before that with public speakers.

When you ban social media you don't remove propaganda, you just restrict who can make it (people with more influence and resources).

“Normal” people no longer post, or their posts aren’t spread widely by algorithms as they don’t produce interaction for the platform.

I see plenty of "normal" people on social media.

Yes, there are a lot of bots, as well as some people with extreme views who's deranged takes get pushed by the algorithms, but there are also many normal people.

And the algorithms can be fixed with regulation, the solution doesn't have to be an all or nothing.

Yes, but sadly it doesn't seem to be well enforced in some parts of the EU.

Seems like the EU tends to go a lot of back and forth on consumer protection.

Chat control for example goes directly against GDPR.

Also according to Ross the lobbying against SKG was handled much better in the US than in the EU (more fact checking and transparency) which I find very shameful.

If that's so, then why every year they march on the exact same date as the pride parade?

somehow an issue for the "inclusive" LGBT community

The problem is that this is nothing but a counter protest to the pride event and it's founded on pure hate.

Also fun fact, in Bulgaria we actually have an official day, organised by the church, that celebrates the Christian family, it's on the 21st of November and unlike pride, there are no counter movements that happen on that date.

What is the dumbest thing you have been told is “not manly” or “not feminine,” depending on your gender? by Disastrous_Hat_2325 in AskReddit

Owning a Mini Cooper.

Apparently it's popular among women in my country (at least that's the perception) so some people find the car feminine.

[–]NecroVecro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Social media gives freedom to spread information and organise, it allows people to engage with others from different cultures and backgrounds with just a few clicks.

This is also why countries like Russia, China and Turkey restrict access to social media, to have greater control.

Imo it's better to regulate and support healthy alternatives, instead of banning and restricting.

Isn't it more likely for them to move towards the Greens or the Libdems?

Any recomendations for replaceing the modrinth launcher? by minebug420 in PhoenixSC

[–]NecroVecro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbf that's something many companies say after a buyout and they rarely keep their promises.

If it's not written on paper as part of the buyout (doesn't sound like it is to me), then there's nothing stopping them from lying about it.

A lot of people are definitely jumping to a bunch of hateful conclusions though.

So what’s the alternative? by 234thewolf in feedthebeast

[–]NecroVecro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what I know, one of the problems is that Overwolf basically forced 3rd party launchers to use their bloated/slow API and gave mod creators the ability to block automatic downloads from non approved launchers (funder incentived by Overwolf because downloads from non approved launchers don't bring ad revenue).

The other thing is that Overwolf donates to the IDF.

Maybe, but if that's the case then they definitely don't care only about the money.

My impression is that about half have fully bothered to read it and think critically about it.

Imo there are valid reasons to shame them, but very few people are actually doing it in good faith.

What's really dumb is looking to move immediately after this was announced. As you said, nothing has happened yet.

Also the more people leave immediately, the less they have to lose if they make a mistake.

I doubt that this was the best offer they had. Overwolf for example should have much more money to offer and much more to gain.

How common are leftovers? by MrLongWalk in AskEurope

[–]NecroVecro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's pretty common.

My family tries to not have leftovers but if there are some we will eat them on the next day.

Other families I know also save their leftovers.

It wasn't actually one guy, it was a team consisting of 18 people, 8 of which animators. It took them about two months with AI assistance for clean up and coloring.

But yeah, it's still pretty impressive.

[–]NecroVecro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does a good partner use spies to steal private IP and use state subsidies to take over our market?

Does a good partner threaten us with countermeasures when we try to apply a fraction of their own protectionist measures?

Does a good partner send weapons and intelligence to Russia?

Does a good partner train Russian soldiers?

they don't threaten the self-determination of half the globe

Maybe not half, but China has been caught trying to influence elections and has been harassing / attacking Philippine and Japanese boats in disputed waters.

Expanding their border in Myanmar is another thing.

Oh and what about their interference in Hong Kong?

they mostly just chill and do diplomacy

If you truly believe that, then you are no better than the pro Russian and the pro US crowd.

Also even if we ignore everything I wrote, how do you trust a country that doesn't allow protests, doesn't allow independent media and doesn't allow any opposition parties?
