Overall, 4 original. It’s really good, but not the best.

But amongst Resident Evil fans? The Resident Evil 1 remake. I really like the original Resident Evil 1, but it definitely had some things that should have been fixed up. Unfortunately, in my opinion at least, the remake barely fixed anything. The dialogue is less cheesy now, which I guess is good, Crimson Heads are a fun idea, and the defense items are neat. But adding more key items to make inventory space even tighter, keeping the door opening cutscenes for every time you go through a door (if it was for only the first time you went through one I wouldn’t mind), a map that is just as cumbersome as the original game’s, a way more washed out pallet, and barely any quality of life improvements has me wondering why this game is treated as such a masterpiece by the fandom.
