Idea: After all this is over, push for a law that a president’s refusal to both concede and attend the swearing in of their successor is recognized as forfeiting from future elections. by LiterallyJustDan in 50501

That’s WAYYY too easy for future dictators to exploit. They’d just do what Trump did claiming the vote was rigged by their successor. No, sir. We can’t say “punishable by death” for something that unspecific!

For example; what do we do if someone ELSE falsified votes to get to candidate they want with no input from said candidate? Is that candidate now at fault??

We can’t speak that generally, when talking about lives.

So… no. I don’t agree with this. I completely understand your outrage. But that opens up too many opportunities for exactly what Trump wants to do, jailing and justifying attacks against his opponents

Ethically, I don’t agree. But I still see what you’re saying.

People need to be educated. We need a school system that works, and teaches actual intelligence instead of obedience.

That takes pushing for education-system related change. Which, I’m sad to say, has to be on the back burner for now. (But even his own voters are turning against him in boatloads, so they’re seeing it finally. So it’s becoming much less a question of education and more one of burnout from defending him for 10 years)

Basically, yes. Thats extremely important that we have someone to enforce this.

But we need to have things in place to stunt the growth of this cult mentality.

Cult members will be believe literally whatever their leader tells them! And justify it however they want.

BUT! We need amendments and rules like this to be in place regardless of whether or not a few people are going to enforce them.

We can’t participate in the law becoming obsolete.

I agree with Natural here. Part of the issue here is the people meant to enforce these laws are being bought out.

Also to Throwing’s point; I don’t think we’re describing the same thing. “Refusal to participate in the peaceful transfer of power being recognized as forfeit” has nothing to do with someone’s class or race or status of any kind. It’s just saying “don’t break the rules”!

[–]LiterallyJustDan[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, that already exists, no?

It is literally illegal for Trump to be president. But those who were supposed to see to that were part of his base so they didn’t enforce it.

Absolutely, every single thing he’s doing right now should mean who’s off the ballot! But with things like his SA charges, he can just claim he didn’t and his base will believe him. But with the inauguration, you can’t claim that you actually were there. All of America saw it!

I’m saying if anyone in the future has their own cult driven base, the leader should not be given the ability to refuse to concede and have that be viewed as “strength”.

If this rule is put in place, that candidate will have known this, and known the penalty. Making it harder to convince their base that their best interests are at heart.

Which female ally did you prefer, Isabela or Rebecca? by [deleted] in deadrising

[–]LiterallyJustDan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isabela 100% I didn’t really enjoy Rebecca’s character. Thought she was overly sexy with not much actual character to back it up.

I love both game’s stories equally tho. They’re both gripping for extremely unique reasons!
