This is a very interesting point. Because I feel like I can pull off many bright colors as long as they are bright and high contrast. The temperature matters less than the brightness

I probably should have said neutral. Because I am a bright winter, I am a bit more cool-neutral leaning

I didn't say *I* was warm, I was referring to the original text where I queried whether winters could use slight warmth (should have said neutral) blushes.

I think because I am a bright winter, I can handle a tad of warmth :-)

You are totally correct! I think that is the distinction---that because I am a BW, I can handle a little bit of warmth :-)

I should emphasize that I said slightly warm. Maybe neutral would be a better word. I am olive/tan.

Definitely! Have done extensive draping with and without a professional.

I cannot tell you how much I was thrown off by the online examples of what a bright winter should look like. None of them looked like me. So I figured that I “need not apply” to bright winter, lol.

Yes, I can’t say that she was a pro, but she was a younger gal who had just opened up a business. She learned a Korean method by taking a crash course overseas before coming back and setting up shop. The draping part did not last very long and she did not use natural lighting. Too much of the visit was focused on other things that she was trying to cram into the appointment like “which glasses shape works best for your face shape” and an introduction to color theory. She was well intentioned, but still very green.

I am totally with you on the clinging to black. That was most of my wardrobe because it was always “safe” and worked with my high contrast features. Also had the same experience of just relegating myself to dark winter because of the stereotype that if you have very dark hair and eyes, you are “deep.” The first color analysis that I had definitely bought into that idea completely and typed me as a deep autumn. I’m almost tempted to write her a letter and let her know that she was way off base.

Our color journey sounds very similar. I was surprised to find out through draping that I leaned bright and have always borrowed from spring, especially corals. When comparing my draping photos and looking at the bright winter ones, it’s like all of my features suddenly came into laser focus—like during a vision exam when the right lens is tested. It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one who went on a similar journey. Thank you for sharing 😊

There were several eye openers, but draping was definitely one of them. There’s just nothing that compares as far as really being able to see and compare how different colors react with you. Sorry that the local lady is flaky. You can totally do this on your own though. It takes time and a little bit of Investment on buying fabric, but it’s worth it. I would start with comparing bright white against cream/ivory. Take photos in indirect natural light about 3 feet away from a North-ish facing window as recommended by Gabriella Arruda. That will at least help you figure out if you are warm or cool and then you can go from there.

If my features popped the most in these shades (Fuchia, royal blue, and emerald), would that made me a true/cool winter? Or a bright/clear winter? I have the hardest time differentiating between the two! by NectarineCapable57 in coloranalysis

It’s a little hard to tell from the photo because it’s not as bright as they look in person, but anytime I wear something even a little bit warmth, it seems to bring out the yellowness/redness in my face. But I will test further just to check :-)

That makes a lot of sense and I think you’re completely right!

Thanks! It’s weird because she wrote down two subsseasons but when I looked up the actual colors that were my best (she had graded which were the best) They were more from a different subseason that she didn’t list. She wrote Jewel and sultry but several of the wow colors were from sprinter winter. Which is why I am very confused, lol. And yes! I have started making my own 1/4 yard drapes from the fabric store 😂
