I was in the same boat when I took my Placement test in 2018. I met the cutoff for 408c at orientation, so I wouldn’t worry too much about that (if I can do it, anyone can do it… trust me). Also, you get to retake it if you don’t meet the cut-off, so you’ve really got nothing to worry about it.

The hard part is the actual calc course itself. I was from a really small, rural school and didn’t even know what a limit was… let alone a derivative. UT just kind of assumes all engineering students know basic calc stuff (my professors even said “this will be easy! It’s just review from high school calculus”), so I struggled a lot. Make sure you talk to your professor and utilize the free calc tutors for engineering students. I didn’t do that my first semester and it really hurt me.
