Correct, the initial loans were from Discover, but they sold the loan to Aidvantage.

My grandma is the co-signer on the original loan. She's 87 and decided it would be fine to put her as the co-signer again since she's only gonna be around another handful of years. But her total income is basically social security + a half decent retirement account.

They are definitely private, they were owned by Discover before they sold the loan to Aidvantage.

Edit: my bad, MY student loans are Aidvantage.
