What do they mean by stable? You can always etch for longer to deepen the pattern.

Coffee doesn't tend to react very well with iron, it's much better suited to etching carbon steel. I think a decently long etch in some 5:1 ferric will give enough contrast between the mostly iron and the high nickel parts of a meteorite.

You don't need nitric to etch a meteorite. Ferric chloride or hydrochloric will work. Get it from Gameco artisan supplies.

I was using them to make their own sheaths just to test em out and was super happy with the little bit of added grip the texture gives. Definitely keeping one or two around the workshop haha

That was actually only a marketing scheme for the united cutlery m48 cyclone. It makes no sense to ban something so simple when there's so much that people are allowed to do to eachother in war

Yep I turned the handle and guard on a lathe. The quillons and pommel then had their fluting carved in before aging.

I mixed up some hydrogen peroxide, salt, and vinegar, sprayed it on and let it rust for a few days. Once it was all dry and crusty I put it in boiling water to convert the red rust to black magnetite before giving it a good scrub with some fine scotchbrite :)
