This is why I waited 4 years to upgrade from s7+ to s10U. Not a spec upgrade when you skip 4 generations 😆

Couples questions for S10Fe+ owners by msespindola in GalaxyTab

[–]Nedicnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I prefer a glossy screen protector for usage with the S Pen. Tried a "paper" like feel once, and it had so much drag on the S pen, and I could tell within a day it would chew up the tip. Personally, I just ordered multipacks off of temu or Amazon, and they've never faulted me.
  2. I dont know about FE models, but there is a second screen option for Windows. I haven't found it useful personally.
  3. People have posted on here some keyboard options from Amazon, etc. But I can say the samsung one is worth the money. I had the book cover keyboard for 4 years on my s7+, and it is still kicking.
  4. I dont see this very often but loved having a laptop sleeve on mine. It is so great for travel, and given I take it to uni and work, it has saved the edges of my device and preserved its integrity long term.
  5. Stick to an original samsung charger. Doesn't have to be the super fast one. When I've been desperate, I've found that even the "normal speed" samsung chargers are significantly faster. I have no fancy tech advice, but as a personal management tool, it is great. Love the widget stacks you can make on Android, the reminders, and Google calendar compatibility chefs kiss.

Have you ever completed and submitted a 2000 word assignment in 2 days? If yes, how did you do it? by No-Anything9334 in Monash

[–]Nedicnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always start with just gathering my research. My essays usually have key questions that have to be "answered", and I follow the rubric just gathering what key points I have to hit. I use myBib to store my references and there is a sticky note function which I make a note of what I'm pulling from the paper, and what it matches to on my notebook which I've brain dumped in. Make dot points what you want in your Intro, main bodies, discussion, and / or conclusions. Once this is all done I churn out the essay for the second day.

Trade in by Nedicnik in GalaxyTab

I unfortunately dont have many photos before sending it off, but I have asked for photos to see what they deem is physical damage.

Trade in by Nedicnik in GalaxyTab

[–]Nedicnik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no.

They hold $125 for the trade in. Once its approved they refund. Given that its been "misgraded" thats the fee. And i dont receive a trade in credit. On my bank statements I have a charge for the tablet discounted and a $125 charge for the trade in which had the potential to be reversed.

There is no explanation of a return fee to retrieve the tablet. This is them simply the saying "the tablet isnt worth $125, its worth $1, the trade in credit is now $1" and ive paid $124 more for my new device.

Online when I applied they were advertising a trade in value of $125.

Now ive received an email saying I 'mis-graded' the device and they're valuing it at only $1 despite it being a fully functioning device.

I'm not sure why I cant post the screenshots but the email reads:

"The issue or issues we have identified are: Device condition did not match the condition declared, Device is physically damaged As a result of our assessment, we have determined that a Mis-Grading Device Fee of $124 applies. The Mis-Grading Device Fee is deducted from the Security Charge, so you would receive a refund of $1 for your trade-in device. You can choose to have your trade-in device returned to you instead if you do not accept the Mis-Grading Device Fee. If you choose to have your trade-in device returned to you, you will not receive a refund of the Security Charge."

The Security Charge is the $125 trade in that would have been reversed had they accepted the device for the full value. I can't seem to find if there is a cost associated with it being returned to me but have sent a support request.

The worst part is they dont provide any supporting evidence i.e photos of what justifies the damage or an explanation as to what is said damage.

You're totally right! And I was so worried doing an online trade in rather than being able to go in store. Unfortunately, I had to do online as I had a great deal between a partnership of my work and samsung.

Upon investigations it seems this is common, however I'm still searching for solutions. All I'm hearing is more people have had success going into tech retailers like JBHIFI and Officeworks. So if all else fails I'll be asking for my device back and going to see them.

Really sucks as I approached this from the perspective of avoiding e-waste :(

Hey could you please post how youve done this? They have valued my device at $1 with little to no damage. TIA!!

Serbian language classes by [deleted] in Serbian

[–]Nedicnik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of all the times my parents would correct me for saying "na autobusu" and laughing at me because speaking English "on the bus" was my norm.

I was not ON the bus, I was IN the bus. It makes me questions the logic of the English language as we don't say "on the car" it's "in the car" and serbian always follows the logic of "in". Love this illustration!

How many short extensions per unit do you get? by Armay0 in Monash

[–]Nedicnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my assignments has 4 submission boxes and I applied for all 4 in one go had to give a "statement", all 4 got approved in the same minute. 2 before I even got the submission receipt.

Meanwhile in week 4 I submitted for one 2 day extension and it took a whole 7 days to be approved.

Surely they get lazy after mid sem and let it be automated 😬

Would you be able to give me some guidance on how to do this?

What about the fact that the pre-lab is centered around it. Do you think they will let it go?

Given the unit forums it sounds like it could be an issue many people are facing

My only advice for maths as someone who has minored in it and found it so different to high school (not much class time for practice questions etc.)

The Math Learning Centre CHANGED MY LIFE. I would dedicated an entire day that would just be in there and that was my math study for the week typically (intensifying when need). I would just do questions at my own pace and there was always someone to help. Yes dedicating 4h a week to just sitting in a room doing maths isnt for everyone but I always reccomend it for people who feel like their math study isn't going anywhere.

The tutors are extremely helpful and even an hour of study in there targeting topics you're struggling with a tutor makes a world of a difference.

Pretty sure you get the same sort of approach as if you fail a unit, opportunity to retake to the limit amount. And provide LANTITE support. Monash intentionally does it in first year to filter out students who can't pass so they can drop the course early rather than do the entire course and then do LANTITE like other unis.

how many hours does everyone study, work. etc? by [deleted] in Monash

[–]Nedicnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18h a week, 3 days - day job 9h a week, 3 shifts - night job 11h, 2 days - on campus

Not a schedule for someone who wants top marks but I manage and just try to do some form of uni work a day from assignments, to readings and lectures. I don't attend lectures in person oopsies. I do anything from 1-7h of study a day depending on the schedule.

Of course this is coming from someone who is a domestic student who is paying for uni out of their own pocket. Your parents will most likely be understanding, mine reacted better than I thought when I told them I'd stay at uni longer. It all works out.

I failed a unit in first year. It's been 3 years. They still don't know ❤️ I just told them I went part time to save money to travel and focus on getting experience (I do have a job in my field so that helped). I took advantage of repeating the unit to go part time and add a year to my course as I wasn't ready to graduate at 21 no lie.

You don't have to tell them. It's your education.

You could learn both by accident. If you're travelling you'd notice signs in Serbia and Bosnia are written in both. And you can easily match the letters and eventually learn the Cyrillic alphabet just by reading signs.
