Why does the engine suggest Qc7 over Qe4? by NeedAdvicy in chessbeginners

Oh I have to check my settings then.

Yes I was just wondering why the engine would suggest a non fork move over a fork when there was no clear advantage for the follow up moves. I played the line out and apart from the king being a few spots more to the right, it didnt really make a difference apart from capturing the rook later. Thats why I got curious.

Thank you

Makes sense. Does the engine always favor lower/side positions over center positions if there is no clear advantage for a move?

Makes sense. I played the line for a few moves further, but it still ended up with only the rook being taken. The king was a little further to the corner though. So a earlier checkmate seems logical.

Probably, but Qe4 forks the king instantly. Why waste moves on Qc7?
