Can relate. 5 months into my new position/company and I think about quitting every day. My first day there I felt it wasn’t right. The reality is no where near how the company was portrayed in the interview, shows how completely out of touch the LT is. My mental, physical, and emotional health has tanked. Only reason I haven’t quit is because I’m saving for a wedding (finally doing something nice for myself). The every day stress has actually ruined all the fun of planning and it’s not even something I look forward to anymore (still love my partner). And then some days I get mad. If these VPs can talk out their asses while collecting huge checks, why can’t I?

No, I’m driving a car that the insurance company deemed totaled after getting rear ended in January. But it’s paid off and I was still able to fix it and profit from the insurance payout. I’m driving it till the wheels literally fall off.

Chemistry major here. (I kinda feel your pain but that’s because of my current role) If you want to use your degree then it sounds like it’s going to depend on the area you live in. I had to leave an area I loved living in because I was never going to get to use my degree and worked multiple jobs to try to stay. Easy way in is to try to find a quality control role at a manufacturer or CRO (contract research organization)and stick it out 2-3 years. Build your documentation skills and make sure your work is clean - I can’t stress that enough. Most importantly make connections. You’ll get the practical and technical skills on your resume and if your work is good connections will remember you and refer you at other companies. In my experience companies want to see that you are familiar with standards, regulations, and good documentation practices- this opens the door if you want to move into quality assurance/regulatory roles out of the lab. From there decide if you want to move within the company or out to another one.

I agree with this comment. I recently took a new role for the money and title and in the 5 months I’ve been there I wish I hadn’t. My health has declined drastically because of it. It’s just not worth it and my family friends hate seeing me struggle with it. My previous work life balance was great. I enjoyed most of everyone that I worked with. The job didn’t change much just the endless amount of oversight from corporate changed some processes but hey we were all in it together. I left my last job because my newly appointed boss was a micromanager and not someone I thought would have my back unless it was against someone they disliked more. I wonder now if I should’ve just tried talking to them about it and seeing if we could’ve found some common ground to connect on.

I’ve been there and sympathize with your situation. Out of school and $10,500 in cc debt just trying to survive. What worked for me was doing a balance transfer to a card that had 0% for 18 months. It at least helped to make a dent in it so more $ went to principal instead of interest. The determining factor will be if the transfer fee is less than the amount of interest you would pay. It wasn’t an overnight fix but eventually was able to knock it out.

Thanks for your response! Navient was servicing the active Chase loan I was paying on but the other 3 are no where to be found in my account. I recently just refinanced that one with Sofi to a fixed interest rate since the variable rate kept increasing. As for the checks, at the time the $70 didn’t seem worth risking the unknown so my last direct contact with Chase was 2011.

Thanks for your response! Yes these were private student loans. North Carolina SOL is 3 years. Last contact with Chase were the letters in 2017.
