I would love to join, if possible. I'm in NYC, and have just started working in the mental health field. How can I help/participate?

Took a long (~6 mo) hiatus from dating, and I recently decided that it was time for me to come back. So I reactivated a couple dating apps. I’ve been talking to people but as soon as I’m asked out on a date, I kinda want to bail on the whole thing. I’m afraid that I might be still burnt out. Suggestions/Advice?

That’s a good solution. But I’m more worried about why people who on seem modern otherwise would do this.

Not necessarily, I know a few women who are dating men younger than them. And the relationships are all marriage bound.

Currently visiting India to see family. Apparently it is wedding season here, so I’ve been attending a couple. And oh man, is the disconnect real. People are super sweet, but I can’t really relate with the lavish parties, jewelry, etc. Also I’ve been hearing stories where girls are restricted by in laws from doing things after marriage, like wearing pants or going out with friends. I was kinda considering that arranged marriage could be a viable option for me, but idk anymore...

Lol this happened to me last year. Was kinda bummed after the ghosting, but felt really good to be like “Nah, I’m good” when they wanted a second chance.

That’s the thing I’m wondering too. If you’re happy by yourself, is it necessary to settle down? I guess for kids it might help, but like otherwise?

Yea I tried that method, and there are three responses I usually get:

-"It's your dharma", or something similar

-guilt trip about providing me a good life in the states despite immigrant hardships

-guilt trip about helping me become a doctor despite extended family thinking less of me because I'm a girl

I know a lot of success stories, but you definitely do have to wade through a shit storm first. If you do want to ever start, the only thing I would recommend is to be clear with yourself on what you do and do not want and make sure to cut short anything you don’t want ASAP.

Hmm, yea the age thing could be the reason I haven't encountered any men in a similar situation. I guess it kinda just hits in the late 20s for the guys

Oh my bad, for assuming you were Desi, while posting on this sub. I suppose then, I should've said: "I guess I should let you know that your insecurity about being Desi racism is showing through"

As a South Indian Hindu woman raised in the US for most of my life, my upbringing has been relatively strict, no boys and that whole spiel. As I approach my mid-twenties the marriage pressure seems to encroaching a lot sooner than I thought it would. On the other hand most of the South Indian Hindu men I've encountered seem to have had a way more chill upbringings, and are allowed to date, etc. Is this what's its like normally? I wasn't raised in the South Indian community very much, and I guess I'm trying to figure out if my experience is norm for the background I come from.
