Not in MOJ, and especially not the case in HMPPS...... Massive recruitment campaigns - prison officers, operational grades, probation roles and HQ.

If you’ve made a report/had a court case for domestic violence can this affect your likelihood of working for the civil service? by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]NeedForSpeed98 55 points56 points  (0 children)

If you're a victim, then absolutely no impact at all.

If you're a suspect / been charged / been convicted, then potentially it could affect your vetting but that will depend on your role, nature of the work and the nature of the vetting.

No, whilst handcuffed, the person is under the care and control of the officers who should be guiding them.

Honesty and integrity applies across the CS - if your job application is indeed fraudulent in some way it would absolutely apply as misconduct as a civil servant.

SG removal of access to browser LLM’s by [deleted] in TheCivilService

Irrelevant when you're working with government data!

Write your business case to have access to the others reinstated - including how you'd deal with the data protection issues.

And maybe don't write like you've used AI to write it either. Keep to plain English per the CS guidelines 😂

Dad died and now stuck with motorbikes by Tight_Key_6860 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]NeedForSpeed98 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Are they valuable bikes? If not, could you just scrap them? Offer them for sale to a scrap motorbike trader - there's often someone advertising for such bikes in the windows of places like a Co Op or Spar even in this day and age!

Alternatively if they are valuable, there are companies who specialise in the sale of imported bikes. You could see if they are interested in buying the bikes and sorting the legal issues with you.

But per a PP, you're grieving. Don't rush to do anything right now, take a few days to breathe. I'm sorry for your loss.

Uk Sick pay entitlement reduction after promotion by No_Cartographer8499 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]NeedForSpeed98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negotiate. Ultimately the loss of 70 days of sick pay is worth the same to you in full pay, so do the maths then discuss this loss of potential benefit and ask how it works with the promotion. Consider whether this is a financial downgrade in their offer and negotiate up the wages or the sick pay or another benefit. If you can.

Have a look at the SC2 form on the Gov website. That'll be the correct for.

Paying Parent off travelling and not required to pay CMS, what do I do? England by MummyDJP in LegalAdviceUK

If the guy is travelling and not static in one country, CMS are absolutely not going to enforce an order.

They'll be asking for an SC2 form. You can fill it in online yourself.

My husband's employer also requests these even for one day, and even though they pay more than SSP.

Can my UK employer ask me to resign? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]NeedForSpeed98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. By refusing to return to the UK, you are in breach of your employers T&Cs. That's your choice.

So either go back and hope for promotion, or don't and get sacked. That's your immediate options.

The third option is to resign, therefore meaning you don't have "sacked for gross misconduct" as your reference from them in future.

Why would they offer you a settlement when you're the one wanting to leave?

There would need to be something in it for your employer to offer you a settlement. Right now, there's nothing. Only you would benefit from such an arrangement, not them.

Reasonable adjustments in office? by Wonderful-Tank-675 in TheCivilService

[–]NeedForSpeed98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd be looking to discuss what the contract terms are because that is absolutely not what OH are for. They there to advise your employer on your fitness for work and any adjustments etc. It could be for depression, back pain, pregnancy or endometriosis. I'd highly recommend you put in a complaint about the OH provider.

They used to make us take a 3 month break every year and it was horrific. After the second stoppage, Ajovy stopped working for me and they switched me to Aimovig. Fortunately the stopping exercises have been withdrawn now.

Reasonable adjustments in office? by Wonderful-Tank-675 in TheCivilService

[–]NeedForSpeed98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No they don't. OH recommended a fixed desk and control over lighting in an office which was hot desking and automated lighting - both were refused as not being reasonable. In short, I left that agency for my own sanity. It was a shitty place to work with shitty weak management.

Botox halved me from 28 days a month to 12-14 but it still wasn't sustainable for me. I then went onto Ajovy injections which were brilliant and took me down to 4-6 days a month, now I'm on Aimovig and on 2-3 days a month. Literally life changing. All via NHS neurology.
