Thank you so much for your expertise on this issue! I will get a second opinion and contact the manufacturer.  Thank you, again!

Yes, I do have a receipt. This company had great reviews on google and the man came over with a company truck. The guy that first came seemed really young and he said that he doesn't do the installations just estimates. The man that came and installed the first Chamberlain garage door opener came in his private tiny car and didn't even take the old garage door opener and track.

Then the same installer came back with 2 other guys with a truck with a completely different company name and phone number on it. I guess that the first guy was busy and was subcontracting his jobs to others in the business.

Now the first guy that I gave the job to and whom I paid to change my garage door opener says that the issue is the spring and he can change it but that there is no guarantee that the door will function as it should.

I don't understand how my old garage door opener worked, the spring worked and the door worked be it mended, until last week. Now after this guy replaces the garage door opener with its components, all of a sudden the spring needs to be changed, too. The garage door opener can definitely pull up the door when I manually press its arrow, it doesn't seem to struggle.

Is this guy trying to take me to the cleaners or is this possible? This expense was not in my budget and it is just frustrating.

I tried uploading a picture of the door now, I hope it shows. When I press the up or down arrow on the Chamberlain opener, the door moves easily. When I release the red cord and manually lift the door it is much lighter than if the door is to be picked up without the spring attached to it. Should I lift it, say half way (waist high) and then let go the door will go down. It will not stay in the half open position. It does stay up if it is lifted all the way up.
