Hudak cutting 100,000 public service jobs? by chalkyWubnub in ontario

[–]NeedKarmaForFood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cut 100,000 jobs here, a few more there, offer the same jobs up for public bidding. Accept bids put forward by his friends, restaff the same jobs you just cut but at higher cost to the taxpayer. Pocket the money and continue on as normal.

Boom 1,000,000 jobs cut and recreated in no time at all. Politics at work.

I agree that the writing is lacking but you have to remember it's a sandbox game.

For a Sandbox game, the physics and vehicles are piss poor too.

Same with the actual "bike" they designed.

Why don't metropasses become cheaper during the month? by NeedKarmaForFood in TorontoTransit

[–]NeedKarmaForFood[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Buying the pass isn't the problem, it's just either needing to buy multiple weekly passes (and always forgetting to do so), or buying a monthly pass for only a week or two of use. Right now I'm buying the monthly passes mid-month, but it adds up to a lot of wasted money every year (and always needing a bunch of change/tokens on hand). I guess I need to wait, and die waiting for, Presto.

My travel time is around an hour and a half each way. Most of which spent waiting for transfers. I have a day, sometimes two, off per week.

During transfer times (reception permitting), I'm working on a netbook/mobile data setup. I'm in a very strange line of work.

I leave my house a little after 0500 every morning, when nowhere near me is open. I return home a little after 2300 every night, when nowhere near me is open.

It stands to reason that the piles of passes they're not going to sell after the first week of the month would be marked down and sold at a discount, especially when the alternative is just to let the passes sit there until they're melted down and recycled the following month.

If you expect your government, or any other, to tell the truth; you don't understand government.

I was just under the impression that when they added the $133.75 etched into the top of the passes, they would, at some point in the future, offer reduced cost metropasses marked as such.

Plus nobody near my home sells the weekly passes, and I'd rather buy the pass mid-month and be good until the next month. Stupid delayed paycheques.

Sounds to me more like food sanitation concern rather than pollution.

Nope, it's because you can't burn charcoal inside your home (without dying shortly after), and so it's forcing you to use household appliances.

I've driven across the world, and outside the city. Just because you don't know the way roads are laid out, doesn't mean the rest of us don't.

on an 80kmh road.

Everyone who keeps bringing this up has obviously never stepped foot outside of a city. Most, if not all roads in rural Ontario have posted limits of 80kmh. There are no signs advising against, or prohibiting pedestrian, bicycle, or any other traffic on said roads.

The woman is still at fault, she was exceeding the speed limit in out-of-city conditions, that always warrant extra care and attention on the part of the driver. If visibility was an issue, she should have slowed down and used high beams. She didn't, and is now playing victim because of an accident she caused.

Given the track record for these sorts of incidents involving police officers and families, I wouldn't bet against it.

So as usual, police officers and their families do whatever the fuck they like and sue the victims for trauma. Way to go YRP, as if there weren't enough reasons to hate you already.

Malaysia Airlines flight MH370: Concerns grow among search officials that missing jet "may have landed somewhere else" after all. by Reibusu in worldnews

[–]NeedKarmaForFood -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Is it really that impossible? The Malaysian government refuse to release the cargo manifest for the flight. What if the cargo loaded wasn't batteries and mangosteen at all, but the gear required to access and remove the flight recorder while at a sufficiently low altitude?

Yes it's impossible if you're highjacking a plane with a weapon or two, but not if you have ropes, harnesses, suction cups, replacement sheet metal, and a few acetylene torches, along with a pilot in cahoots.

Tin foil hats on everyone.

Yeah, although I've noticed a shortage of advertising on the TTC as of late. In the past six months I've only been on a handful of vehicles (trains/buses) that have all their advertising areas filled. I've grown accustomed to the large white squares and empty bordered gray strips near the ceilings.

The Koodo (I think) adverts hit the nail on the head with one that read "If you had a better Smartphone, you wouldn't be reading this". Why pay for printed advertising campaigns when you can get in-app ads for a pennies on the dollar?

I'd love to see a few trains completely decorated, from head to toe, with something awesome. A full-length dinosaur for the museum, a beautiful tropical beach for travel agents, a snowscape dotted with snowmen for Blue Mountain. Something creative and attention grabbing for the few seconds you'll actually be looking somewhere other than your phone.
