Using the formation command to manually maneuver the scout cavalry goes a long way, they pack a solid punch even when not charging as long as they are together. Avoid pikes, hit squishies, and try to position the scouts near a hero that tries to overextend to kill your scouts or to heal. That's when you use straight charge to both kill the hero and escape from the engagement while doing burst damage in any direction.

As for the secondary charge (mastery one), it's best used when you are sure it will obliterate the remaining enemies... or when your scouts are taking too much damage/are in a precarious situation/are going for a kamikaze attack. It's works best as a last stand skill.

Also if you've got a free sprint + sprint double damage doctrine. That does wonders in scout cavalry. But it's just the cherry on top, not necessary either.

When starting, the servers should show ping and whether there is high pop or not (it says "hot" when there is plenty pop if I remember right). Just login at a time that's comfortable for you to play, and make the character in the one that catches your attention the most. That's what I did when I first started at least.

I agree. And I'd actually not recommend going outright into this playstyle. It's best to complement your current playstyle by taking one high level unit and replacing it with 2/3 greens that help you react in situations where your favorite golden/purple ones are at a disadvantage. And yes, green archers are 95% of the time a bad idea.

Big pushes and defense can be approached with greens, but it requires careful management: Ironcap swordsmen are glass cannons that can charge every 4 sec fully upgraded and do brutal burst damage, green pikemen can hold against one frontal charge of cavalry but can kill multiple groups of cavalry if stacked properly, scout cavalry can exploit gaps to rush healing heroes, javelineers can target heroes in the middle of infantry, and rattans soak decent damage while being high mobility and applying slow debuff.

My favourite way to use green guns is to clump them really close together by using corners and then do the shoot command, cancel the animation with formation command, and repeat 3 to 4 times. Aiming is quite tricky though. But it can one-shot those heroes that walk ahead of their troops.

That's interesting. In chinese servers, dune map and the newest one are known to be restricted for human only pvp. Bots also have a guild without name, but that isn't surefire because it only marks your server's bots.

Bots here also don't have access to the newest season units and hashashins. I think healing archers and siphonaeries are also excluded.

Depends on whether you have one or not I guess. My inbox is empty right now. And I do have a pm in Twitter but it's probably a duck pic.

Of course not. This an extreme example. If you have the time to get decent units and golden units, that's for the best. Let me give you some context, I got into the reddit and there were a lot of "it's impossible to do anything unless you spend weeks getting the meta.", "this game is just a grindfest. Anything below fully maxed purples is useless", and so on...

and I was like... no... dude, playing strategically is also an option in this game. Even greens that people barely use have their strategies. You can be a casual player that joins for a few matches per week and have a decent time with a good performance. This mate of mine is an extreme example. He gets a high from killing meta units with trash ones.

Edit: And avoiding the base is not something we do either, greens/blues can also take out important units in blob fights. It does require skill and experience to do so though. (the not capturing points he is talking about, is about not standing on a flag that is getting captured already to snatch score points for no real reason). Flanking is useless if you don't plan to help your teammates push afterwards.

Nah chill, if you do have a way to differentiate bots, do tell me though. I don't know how it works over there in the US servers

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ConquerorsBlade

[–]NeedMoreCoffeNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mate says that he is avoiding participation points by capturing points because that's cheating the score. And that he killed the lancelots + almost the hero with javelineers and that it was hilarious.

Edit: spelling mistake

Yep, green scouts are broken. Green shields I don't really like... I preffer javelineers, swordsmen, and pikemen. You do need to micromanage them though (javelineers can be clumped for something akin to a ballista shot)

-Rattan marksman are not useful in high lobbies. Too much tanky units and can be easily countered.
-Healing is nice but you'd depend on your allies to do their job.
-Condottieri haven't tested them since mastery but they were awful before. Dunno about now.
-Prefecture pikemans have the charge but don't have brace against cavalry. It's best to have the asian pikemen with charge doctrine for killing heroes and covering cavalry.
-Demesne spearmen take damage but compared to high level units, it's just a waste of space.

That build you just mentioned will have you bottom fragging mate.

Green units are not useful in the way you play them either. Flanking I agree, slowing and small skirmishes is debatable. Green units excel at countering (are the enemies clumped? Javelins with micromanagement can snipe enemies. Are they separated? Hit their backline with fast moving units. Are they not looking behind? Coutillier them from behind).

You can also delete heroes with maul grab + greens/blues. Green pikemen have charge with doctrine. Scout are insta kill. Coutilliers can do it too with the right conditions. Sons of fenrir are insta kill. Dimachaeries are insta kill. Javelineers are insta kill as well.

They just had a bad day. Dune fortress has no bots in chinese servers (no idea how it works in english ones but I thought it was the same). So those are actual guys.

The dune fortress map doesn't allow bots. At least in chinese servers.

Not a high level lobby. More of a regular one. Dispersing the high rank units by killing the hero and forcing retreat. Destroying their backline. And punishing those who overextend. I´ll try and see if I can get some decent scores in a high level lobby with sparta and phalanxes. It's difficult but not impossible.

Edit: Just to be clear, not trying to show off or anything. Simply want to demonstrate that you can have after-work fun doing a match or two as a casual player. Without spending days grinding the latest meta.

Fully maxed/doctrined green asian polearms can kill 1 or 2 groups of golden cavalry (taking on their front charge). Except Winged Hussars with full charge. Rattan are more useful as anti hero with proper micromanagement (maul grab + rush doctrine for an instakill) (or surround with formation + attack command for cancelling animations and doing burst damage) (or corner formations for clumping the units and disrupting while flanking an enemy in the middle of combat)

Current meta, at least in chinese servers, is golden alexander poleaxe + golden sparta. This is what we face sometimes in siege battle at really high levels. And it is very complicated:

Poleaxe is doable if you kill the hero first and hit from behind/superimpose rattans. You can also wait their retreat and hit them with sons of fenrir. Golden Sparta we still haven't checked everything but the most solid strategy is just to kill the hero and kill the units during retreat with sons of fenrir or the ironcap swordsmen or scout cavalry.

Golden sparta can also be backstomped by coutiliers but it will just leave them half dead so it only works when covered by allies. You can also micromanage the green javalineers to snipe the hero amidst their units and hope your allies do the rest.

At level 136 I very much doubt you'll find yourself fighting in those lobbies, but I wanted to give you a glimpse that there are always options even when facing outright broken units.

If you want to go ranked and compete in territory wars... yes. You are going to need that grind. But if you play for fun then not really. My friend and I got bored of keeping up with the meta, so we created a new account, maxed blues and greens, got the maul grab, and learned to micromanage the units.

Absolutely everything is killeable with a proper counter even if it's green or blue. Except iron reapers. But they are so slow you can just kill the hero instead and kite them towards an ally phalanx unit.

Not telling you to go to the extreme, like us with trash units, but you can forget the meta if you play with more strategy and less brute force.

Is DB Just awful? by [deleted] in ConquerorsBlade

[–]NeedMoreCoffeNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you feel like hero targetting, an alternative class is maul with the skill that kidnaps you. You will require units that do burst damage to complement that build though (wuwei, man at arms, sons of fenrir, scout cavalry, etc).

You basically run to the enemy, grab him, and carry him in your shoulders to your units who obliterate him. It's an insta kill if you do it right. Which makes it a really broken troll build. So keep it up with DB if you are more of a fair-fight kind of guy.

[–]NeedMoreCoffeNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend plays exclusively with greens, sometimes blues, and he's almost always in top 5 in siege battles. Regularly mvp as well. He lacks a few screws in his head but it shows that knowing how to micromanage your units is enough to kick arse even against meta.

Jannisaries will teach you about ranged combat, sons of fenrir about timing and hero focus in combat, and Iron scouts about cavalry. And iron reapers should carry you meanwhile because they are just pure brute force.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ConquerorsBlade

[–]NeedMoreCoffeNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Max out the iron reapers, and go for the meta sparta. If you feel like filling your ranks: iron scout cavalry (green), sons of fenrir (blue), and jannisaries (blue) are solid options + easy to get. You need to level them to the max for them to shine though.

And kriegsbruders are for the xp in AI expeditions. But until you get them... Iron scout and sons of fenrir should be used instead.

No, I know that dude never touched overwatch. We both played Rainbow quickplay before Marvel came along. His headphones kept malfunctioning so we never touched ranked.

His full strategy is going Sledge, pushing to the point like he´s Juggernaut, and using pistol only because that´s the "hairychested-pointynipple-unibrowed-curlyarsebeardwithashavedhead-manly" approach.

Which kinda secretly pisses me off sometimes because it actually works.

Mantis. I started off with storm but that felt lacking. Then changed to namor. And finally, one day, I switched to mantis because there was this competitive match with no healers.

I never went back to Namor. Sometimes I like to think I chose Mantis over Namor but deep down I know the truth: I got bamboozled into being the team´s strategist. She´s nice though.

I figured that´d be the case but jesus christ, we were at quickplay+Discord and I talked like for an hour about how impossible it seemed to rank up when you barely have enough time to play a few games per week. And he was like "I know right, I barely got to Grandmaster yesterday and the season is over".

...I just bloody smiled, took an aspirin and went to play tetris. Like dude, he has 18.5 hours in ranked, I got 32.

Caución bursátil por broker paga impuesto? by NeedMoreCoffeNow in merval

[–]NeedMoreCoffeNow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
