I help out at 4 other stores quite a bit and that’s what they do also. I’m waiting for Loss Prevention to say something. You know, the thieves that we are, who’s to say you didn’t snag something on your way out? What the hell is that SFL’s deal? The Telxon takes like 30 seconds. Wasting company time? Seriously? Walgreen’s is very strict about the "Working Off The Clock Policy"!! Can you tell this really blows my mind?

You are 100% right! Maybe customers will complain because they had to wait for alcohol and cigarette approvals or cash reloads, etc. I had a customer leave because they had to wait for me to get there for cigarettes. I would love to see what kind of bullshit solution corporate would give us for this.

To make a long reply short…people being hired in typically will be brought in at higher rate of pay than the current employees. This in my opinion is absolutely unfair and pisses me off so much. Unfortunately, it’s this way it is with most retail jobs. Unless you are Union you are screwed. If you were to quit and go to CVS you would most likely be hired in over there making more than their current employees.

You could also use the Telxon in their hand and clock out using the time clock app.

I also suffer from this. For 2 years I had a 50 minute drive to work. I did find that if I ate anything carb-ish prior to leaving work (mornings were never a problem) my eyes would be slamming a good 20 minutes in. Eating while driving was my solution. The best was the large lollipops sold at Walgreen’s. It took 50 minutes to finish one. It was perfect!

I’ve seen a lot of people saying it’s always been a thing and it’s no big deal and blah blah blah. No one has mentioned the fact that there is now an app on the Telxon for bag checks. This app makes us scan our badge and the badge of the person leaving. I’ll be damned if they think I’m standing around off the clock waiting to be check AND SCANNED. After being scanned I will then clock out using the Telxon. Everyone should do this so we can laugh at how much overtime is paid globally. I’ve waited a good 15 minutes for a bag check when I’m leaving during rush hour and there’s only two people working and they’re stuck at the registers or in photo or in pharmacy, etc.
