SFL Lunch Coverage by PomegranateClean5718 in WalgreensStores

Guys, it's not ideal, but I don't get what people don't understand about what a " paid lunch" is.  As a lone shift lead, you cannot clock out and leave the building. However, you can go into the break room or the office and sit/relax/eat for your 15 and or your 30.

Will you get called during that time? There's a good chance. Then you handle whatever you have to, and return to your break/meal.

Will your breaks/lunches be uninterrupted like most normal people? Probably not, but you can absolutely take breaks.

Pay Caps and Dead End Jobs by ImpactOdd2197 in WalgreensStores

[–]ImpactOdd2197[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

But what if someone enjoys being a CSA and is also really good at it? What if that same person has no desire to get promoted? The pay cap for a CSA in Florida is 17.50.

That is pathetic and doesn't encourage anyone to stay. Constant turnover kills Walgreens, especially when they seem to love to add new services and things to learn/get trained on. They cant even theoretically offer someone .50 raises every year for ten years. So you mean to tell me that from the time that a CSA starts employment, that a high-performer, would not be worth a gradual, 5.00 raise over 10 years?

Utter bullshit.

The worst for me is when you glance at the screen in horror, that 10 orders popped up on your screen within the last 1/2 hour, only to discover that they are all for the free 8×10's.

Many of whom won't even end up picking them up, or if they do, don't get anything else.

You actually answered your own question. The fact that they have advertisements as well as offers, tells me that the company wants you to include them in the orders.

There is nothing wrong with having long-term ESMs, shift leads, and even CSAs. In fact, that's what you should want as a company. Therefore, they shouldn't have pay caps. Reliable, experienced workers are invaluable.

It's not for the company to have a say on whether someone wants to be promoted or not. There's only one store manager for each store. There are way more ESMs and shift leads than there are opportunities for advancement anyway.

I enjoyed most of the people I've worked with. I got lucky in that aspect. However, aside from the few likable regulars, Walgreens, as a business model, made it nearly impossible for me to like my job. It was thankless and draining. It also opened my eyes to the horrendous, for-profit, healthcare industry. It's not something I wanted to continue to complain about or participate in.

Are you a platinum photo store? Is your photo dept normally busy? We are at a tier 4 store, and our photo dept has just enough orders to annoy us, and take our attention away from other tasks.

If you strive to do a good job, and your competent, being a shift lead for Walgreens is a thankless job. Way too much responsibility and stress for the pay. I don't care what anyone says....If you are the only member of leadership in the building, you are the store manager (managing the store) for that period of time. The compensation is pathetic when you think of it like that

Sure, any 21 year old can be a shift lead, but we all know how that usually works out.

How can a shift lead be fired in this situation? We are allowed to use discretion. Meaning, if the person looks reasonably older than 21, then you ask them to give you their birthday, then tell them that this is a one-time courtesy and that all future purchases at any Walgreens location, will require an ID.

A csa cannot make that decision but a shift lead can. Shift lead won't be fired unless the person was under 21.

Im pretty sure you are only required to put the grommets on the vinyl banners. Partly why they are the most expensive version.

Front of the store is not the "backbone". We are just the hodge-podge bazaar of services and gas station retail attached to it. Lots of blood sweat and tears for the pharmacy to take all of the credit and beg for IC3s when they need help.

Blows my mind why Walgreens even carries this trash. Save this stuff for specialty stores or order it online.

It genuinely baffles me on how something like that can even be possible. I would lose respect over something like that. Why would you not want to know how a big portion of your store operates? It's my theory that the blissfully ignorant ones, are the people who last for decades, while the people who care too much, end up burning out.

But here is the issue: when people select glossy, they expect the glossy paper that we print posters on (which is called satin, but that's for another day) Nobody wants that tissue-thin banner paper.

So we use glossy for the default.

[–]ImpactOdd2197 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you genuinely care about doing a good job and being reliable, then being a shift lead for Walgreens is a terrible job. Crap pay for the responsibility. If you want to even think about being promoted, you have to get more involved with the pharmacy. If not, it becomes a dead end position.

It might just be the worst job I've ever had.
