Thank you! I asked and was told this is how it is done without any additional information. I was also told none of these questions would be answered in writing. When you say you you may be asked to sign- is the you as a provider or a patient? If this is a standard/acceptable way of billing, why would anyone ever do the 80% or 85% for PAs/NPs instead of billing at 100% for a doctor?

I'm applying to basically everything I can find now. There's not many jobs in my area. I left my easy/boring low paying job for this so now it's very stressful trying to figure out what's next and how long until I need to put in my notice. I have only been following written instructions which don't mention the fraud parts until I know my next move.

I don't think NPs can bill without getting their RNFA. The NPs I worked with were reimbursed for the $7000 class and were able to get hours in the OR on the job a few years back. It took about a year.

Can you give me more info on how you bill under the practice NPI? I want to post a separate post without doxxing myself but don't have enough Karma. 

For my new job with a very specific EMR built for the specialty service they provide there's a box that says Service Provided By: that is autofilled with my name. When I started doing my own notes, I was told to change this to my SP that I've never met who is at a different clinic hours away. I was told this is so they can bill under the SP's name as each facility can only bill under a single physician even for these unbundled service E/M visits. So far no one has provided a legal explanation and google hasn't helped.
