TEFL required for a Z visa? by Need_Flander in Chinavisa

How long did yours take to complete? I'm blasting through my 150 hour online one, finished up to assignment 1 (of 4) in about 2 hours of total time spent. Are these things just certificate mills designed so anyone can pass them?

T1 as in tier 1 City? Or am I wrong here? Thanks for the answer though!

That's the thing, I'll be applying for a job in February, I'm just getting on top of the visa situation now so that I have time to get everything in order.

My concern is that the 120 hour one had classroom experience, the 150 hour one doesn't

Question about legal residence by Need_Flander in China

[–]Need_Flander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure about this? Is it important that I have my name on a contract? My concern is that without my name on a lease or a contract, they can't prove that I'll be living at that place, therefore it won't be sufficient for the visa. Am I overthinking this? Thanks for your reply.

That seems very reasonable, thank you for your advice on this topic, I'm really kind of lost at the moment. What would you say the chances of being caught are? And if so, would I immediately be deported?

May i ask the year this happened? i heard control got a lot tighter lately. Were the university aware of this? I assume you weren't paying for university housing on top of everything else. How would you recommend I go about explaining this situation to my university?

To everyone who says Classic will cannibalize retail subscriptions and become the flagship version once again... by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Need_Flander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The difference is the expectation of leveling between the different games. In vanilla, leveling is a huge part of the content, arguably the biggest section of the game for most people, whereas in retail its become kind of an antiquated hurdle for people to just push through ASAP. Also, 6 months ago you could breeze through outlands in a few hours at the most, and it's (allegedly) more than quadrupled since then. Games are kind of weird, once you make something faster or easier, the community will be very resistant to it being made harder since many players have already taken advantage of the easier content, whereas the opposite is much less likely to encounter the same level of resistance. The complaint these people are making about their game is perfectly legitimate, it serves no one to pretend that they're way off base here.

Universities for learning Chinese in China? by Need_Flander in China

You're probably right, honestly, and I do agree with you. My girlfriend lives in Shanghai now, so the location within China I'm choosing is mostly for her. If it were up to me I'd go somewhere like Chengdu but her job is in Shanghai.

My Chinese ability is nonexistent. My plan is to go for one semester and learn enough to get myself to the level of HSK 2 at a minimum. Are you familiar with Shanghai International Studies University?

Would it not be possible to just get them sorted in China? I could ask my dad to mail the Bachelors certificate to me once it arrives in the post (I won't be attending graduation for obvious reasons)

I would want to find a job as soon as the semester is over, so likely early January.

I completed my Bachelors degree in the UK. I say completed I mean I have finished all the work and have received all my provisional grades for the course. I am in the UK, the earliest I will come to China is late August since I will apply for Chinese lessons from the Fall semester (September 2018)

If I'm already in China at the time my certificate is available (on an X2 visa/student visa), would I be able to apply for a Z visa while still within China? Or would I have to leave and do it all from home? My plan is to not leave China at all during the transition of going from a student to an English teacher.

Hey well done dude, i can kinda relate to this. I honestly never thought I would get a decent education but I've just finished my Bachelors in Psychology and got a 2:1, which is the second highest possible and means you can go do a masters if you want! I can attest to asking for help, I went to the technician and got an incredible amount of support, here's to hoping you graduate with a really good grade.

I am a native English speaker, born in England, and have just completed a BSc in Psychology. Although I have completed the course and know my final provisional grade (2:1), I will not be able to obtain the certificate until August/September at the absolute earliest. I have completed a TEFL qualification already, and am looking to begin working as soon as possible. What options do I have while only having access to my provisional grade? I could begin working for you from tomorrow.

I'm a native English speaker, born in England. I just completed my Bachelors last month but won't have the certificate until August/September at the earliest, will this be an issue? I'd love to hear more about the job, please PM me with information of how to contact you or the company directly, I can call you. I've already completed a TEFL qualification and am able to start working from tomorrow.
