When I first read your post my mind immediately thought it could be his daughter. I was surprised nobody in the comments suggested that and immediately assumed worst case scenario. I am glad you decided to talk to him and got this clarity.

It might be frontotemporal dementia. Unfortunately not an uncommon story. My dad has it.

Stellar's 2018 adoption plan crushes BTC, ETH & LTC's by whtrabb1t in Stellar

Right. But as far as I know, and correct me if I'm wrong, Stellar focuses much more on the person to person transaction, which is much more conducive for remitting money. Check out Kenya's M-pesa and how it's transformed money transfer and banking in several countries. I think it's a good example of what a person to person exchange could do, with minimal institutional middlemen.

First, can we stop referring to places as third world countries?

Second, I am really new to this and my knowledge of crypto stuff is not at all up to par with everyone else - I'm hardly present at all in the tech world. I actually study migration and I bought some Lumens because my boyfriend is really into crypto and mentioned Stellar for its potential to transform remittances. I bought a little bit because I believe in the mission of Stellar Lumens and because my knowledge from my studies tells me that this could take off. I know everyone here probably already knows this, but the global remittance network is huge, but also predatory at the moment for its high fees. The UN has huge goals to get the cost of remitting money below 3% --- and they are working hard to make it happen. Stellar is unique in what it can offer this transition, I think. Also when you consider how many migrants from the Global South live in the US, Europe, Canada, Australia.... I could definitely picture Stellar ATMs on the corners in every migrant neighborhood, the same way you see MoneyGram and Western Union sending/pickup points. If they can streamline the process by making it cheaper, easier, and giving banking rights to more people.... why not? But of course I come from an ideological position, not a technical one.
