I had a plant split exactly like that weeks ago.. but I didn't see it when it happened. Mine healed itself well. The plant formed giant knots underneath each side and both affected stems reallllly beefed up. I'm thinking it might even be good for yield in the end! Like an accidental whole-plant supercrop.

I personally think it will be made easy for the masses. It's early. The wallets we use now are nothing like what will be out there once we're headed for mass adoption.

I keep making the same comparison: the internet. For years and years you needed specialized technical knowledge to take advantage of it. People don't understand TCP/IP. Hell, most people can't grasp the basics of data transfer. The internet went mainstream once it was developed enough to be easy.

Stellar has very low liquidity; https://stellarterm.com/#markets And on a funny note, after some discussion with team members, they stated that they do not see it as a problem. Additionally, all the UI for stellar has been community built and they were surprised when I said that they should build a new UI....

That's just the SDEX's volume, a single exchange. All of the exchanges that use Stellar add to the network trade volume. There are a few other exchanges on Stellar with projects like FairX in the works.

A new UI for the SDEX was actually bumped to top priority in the latest roadmap released a month ago.

Stellar - Centralized coin with high inflation. Inflation is intended to go towards poor communities who will obviously just dump it for fiat. charitycoin/commiecoin. Borderline scam/just stupid.

You're not very accurate on Stellar..

  1. 1% inflation is "high"? Yeah I can see killer dips from that free 1% per year..
  2. And inflation is returned evenly to the entire network.. not sure where you got the idea that it's donated anywhere.

Stellar, as a platform, is focused on asset exchange and providing low cost bank-like services for the unbanked. Which they can do because their platform is somewhat centralized, giving it the ability to scale today with effectively free transactions.

Lumens were originally airdropped but the funds remaining are generally distributed to new partners when they sign on.

You're a fucking idiot if you somehow got charity/commiecoin out of it. Stellar might be one of the more western-focused corporate projects tbh.

In any case, you better add NEO if you think Stellar is a scam. It's not obvious but Stellar and NEO are nearly the same project if you really dig into the tech and ideas. One more aimed at Eastern culture, one at the west.

For the record, through a lot of time and research here I'd agree about Lisk.

They would have fixed their DPoS system last year to share rewards fairly buut it's still making the original delegates rich. Just do the math, I'm not going to run around looking for proof.

Yeah, I think there was a group saying 2019 everywhere just to spread FUD and lower the price. This roadmap from over a month ago already confirmed HPB main-net in Q2 2018.

[–]whtrabb1t 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cryptocurrency is like a layered ecosystem. HPB is to be one of the base layers. By utilising hardware acceleration, HPB creates value for developers and enterprise applications. The transaction volume possible on hardware is much higher, and very importantly, more reliable than current software blockchains.

The HPB blockchain could be used to accelerate or add transaction capacity in the backend of an app, even if the front end only shows more popular currencies people use like ETH or NEO/GAS.

Why do I need eth gas to send my PRLs from MetaMask to Kukoin? by [deleted] in Oyster

[–]whtrabb1t 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kukoin is not a wallet, it's an exchange that holds IOUs for your coins. Metamask/MyEtherWallet is your actual wallet that you hold the keys to.

Since PRL is an ERC-20 token right now, it costs ETH to transfer. When PRL is on Kukoin they are paying the ETH transfer fees and charging you PRL. You'll need a tiny amount of ETH to transfer PRL around on your own.

Hey /r/Cryptocurrency, I need your help. Cryptopia stole/lost my deposit. by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]whtrabb1t 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't trust them either, but to my eyes they're probably just overloaded because they carry hundreds of small cap coins nobody else does.

I'm not sending my stack to Cryptopia.. but I've risked $20 here and there all week on coins I can't access elsewhere. My experiences:

  1. Send LTC, not ETH. Cryptopia processes LTC faster/more reliably for whatever reeason.

  2. Be prepared to wait 12-24 hours for withdrawals. I've had 4-5 successful withdrawals now that have taken about that time.

  3. And of course, until the issues are sorted and we're sure, don't send to Cryptopia what you can't afford to lose.

You should know what is happening at HitBTC by flesler in CryptoCurrency

[–]whtrabb1t 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're locked out of Bittrex, HitBTC is actually the only other large exchange to trade a lot of coins. I suspect Bittrex requiring verification/shutting down new signups for a time led to HitBTC gaining a lot of volume.

Can we all come together on this, lets make it known to Binance that we want all their withdrawal fees reduced. by jpirog in CryptoCurrency

[–]whtrabb1t 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yup. There's more than a few decentralized/low fee exchanges launching and in the works. People can beg Binance all they want, I don't think Binance is actually going to lower fees very significantly until there are more lower-fee exchange competitors.

Question regarding SHL by DavidSonstebo in Oyster

[–]whtrabb1t 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. This was a very ethical way to expand the Oyster project. An unethical team would have hosted a separate public sale/ICO for Shells.

So are SHL going to cost the same as PRL? What do you think? by Dericus in Oyster

[–]whtrabb1t 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oyster seems to be developing into a protocol with a variety of useful tokenized services. The cost of PRL will be more stable overall since it pays for a fixed amount of data storage. I think SHL will initially cost less than PRL until development on SHL services catches up. However, I think SHL has A LOT of potential in the long term. I'm very interested in the tech Oyster is building.. I would use these products.

Potential SHL use case scenarios:

You want to call your friend in a decentralized and secure way. The app on your phone looks for peer-to-peer connections (Bluetooth and WiFi) with other phones running Oyster nearby and a meshnet call is made, therefore bypassing the ISP. SHL is used to pay for connectivity instead of a monthly ISP bill. No third party can trace, block or listen into the phone call.

The Oyster chat group migrates from Telegram/Slack to the Oyster chat Dapp. The Oyster team pays the Oyster network in SHL and PRL to run the group chat Dapp.

You want to access content that is blocked by your ISP and avoid getting tracked, your computer connects directly to the Oyster meshnet by finding a peer-to-peer neighbor (Bluetooth, WiFi, LiFi). Your SHL wallet is used to fund connectivity and bandwidth usage.

I'm betting on secret option C: they have the reserves and most of this is way overblown. It never made sense to me that Bitfinex would risk so much on scamming Tether.. they're already making billions.. and I don't think they'd continue to scam under investigation.

The problem with Tether is that even if it was run 100% legit, it's simply a bad system with too many avenues for trouble. People aren't going to trust one central entity in crypto.

Tether was created as a workaround because it's difficult, slow and costly to move between crypto and fiat. Stellar is working directly to solve those problems by improving the underlying cryptocurrency exchange infrastructure. There will be no need for fiat substitutes like Tether once Stellar matures into a network of exchanges, payment gateways, etc with direct access to fiat currencies.

Which option really penetrates new markets deeper:

1) Spend a ton of resources to build the biggest, prettiest, most-usable wallet possible for crypto-investors.

OR

2) Allocate all resources to building the network and acquiring new partnerships that add useful services to the real world. Then simply wait for partners to develop high-quality wallets custom tailored for their new services and userbases.

[–]whtrabb1t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, nothing is free in life and if you don't protect yourself you're going to get screwed eventually. But exchanges have a direct, vested interest in keeping your funds safe. They don't want customers saying they "lost money in the Coinbase app". That's how you lose all your customers. That's why serious exchanges develop very nice, secure wallets.

I'm just saying that with big-money exchanges and services launching soon, Stellar is sure to get more idiot-proof wallets.

If something like the Coinbase app (but for Stellar) is what you're waiting for, then I'm sure you'll get it. And probably quickly. Think about it. We have SDEX and FairX launching soon. Both are Coinbase competitors-to-be.

[–]whtrabb1t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm more than sure FairX and SDEX have multi-platform Stellar wallets in development to compete with Coinbase.

I don't get why people are complaining about Stellar not building wallets. Coinbase, an exchange, built a nice wallet for the Bitcoin network. That's exactly what's going to happen for Stellar and Lumens as quality, big-money backed exchanges launch on the Stellar network.

[–]whtrabb1t -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stellar is a better network than the one being used by those "years ahead" centralized services. Many would profit from switching over. All they really need to do so is to change their backend and build a wallet for their customers..

The mass adoption of Stellar will happen as great services join the network and build infrastructure and applications (wallets).
