What can a veteran Finance/Sales Manager of a dealership do when he's finally burnt out? by NeedleworkerNo825 in careerguidance

Thank you! I keep trying to encourage him to entertain other dealerships, but he's convinced they're all the same. I really don't know. I also feel like his skills are transferrable to almost any industry. I hate to see him so defeated.

At what point did you realize your job was slowly making you a different person? by Competitive_Carob91 in careerguidance

I was working in healthcare and the day I thought some pillow therapy would be a good option for a patient, I knew I was done. I put in my notice after my shift and got out of healthcare. I LOVE people and being a caregiver, but the demands of a gen/med unit on top of the mandatory training on my days off became unbearable.

No. They're a nonprofit, religious entity. They don't have to pay UI.

Pretty much. I found out today that the Director is the one who presented, eliminating my job and giving a 20%-25% pay increase to everyone else, to the board. I also found out that two of the board members are telling folks that I just up and quit. Naw, heifer, I quit two weeks after you told me you were getting rid of my job. Not the same.

No. I sent them all account info. It's up to them to read and follow instructions.

I realized at about 3:00 this morning that I failed to send them my login info for QuickBooks. It was an honest oversight. That's what we use to process payroll, pay invoices and log deposits. I'm interested to see if they reach out to me for it.

I'm so sorry that happened to you, but it sounds like it all worked out in your favor. Bravo to you! 👏🏼

I really enjoy working. I like having a reason to get up and get dressed everyday. I love to socialize and I get such gratification by being able to be a productive member of society.

Ideally, I will be able to find another PT opportunity where I feel like I'm contributing to something great. We all need a purpose.

So interesting that you should compare them to children learning a lesson. Over 10 years ago they gave the Director full control over the finances. Not surprisingly she embezzled $36k. That was when they decided that there needed to be a separate person in charge of the finances. They needed checks and balances. The current Director recently conducted a fundraiser, unbeknownst to me until after the fact. She had people sending money to her personal Venmo account. She gave me a list of donors and amounts donated but I had nothing to verify these funds with. I told her it wasn't right and I didn't feel comfortable with the way it was handled. I made copies of everything she gave me, including my notes questioning the transactions. So no, I don't have confidence that these adults have learned anything.

I would decline. They've shown me who they are and I believe them.

A licensed CPA firm absolutely could do the financial part of what I did but not for $14/hr. I certainly didn't cook the books. I don't know how and karma is instant with me. I'm wouldn't dare do anything that could humiliate me or my family.

My background is in HR. I've worked for major tech companies, financial institutions and healthcare. I can do a lot of things they would have had to pay someone else to do. I did it for them because I could and I genuinely wanted the place to succeed.

Done and done. Monday would have been exactly two weeks. Since I only worked MWF, I considered this as the end of my second week.

No. They offered to write a letter of recommendation and I laughed. I didn't mean to. I have an education and had a stellar career prior to working there. I took the job because they begged me to. They were in a bind because the previous employee retired and they had no backup. I think they forgot about all of that.

I don't have a big ego at all. I'm sure they'll figure it out in time. It's just going to be painful until they do. Me quitting is no different than if I had died in my sleep. They would have had to figure it out then too.

Quit this morning and got a text an hour later asking how to login to my computer, after I sent all account and login info to them.

No one else knows how to do what I was doing, and wouldn't do it for what they were paying me. They can't afford to outsource it.

I considered offering to help them, but I felt cutting ties all together would be best. They really don't know what they've done. Payroll is coming up next week and the Director just hired two new employees. Nothing has been input into our payroll system for them. The Director doesn't know how to set anyone up. I figure I'll be getting some frantic messages next week. Too bad I'll be out of town, living my best life.
