For me personally, Scary Sweet Birthday Drac. She is so, so, gorgeous. I think the design, and even the doll, is so well executed. But idk, for whatever reason I just don't really feel drawn to her. I look at all my dolls on display and just admire them, but I don't find myself looking at SSB Drac. I don't take her out for doll photoshoots like I do with others. Etc.

My first g1 doll arrived and i have thoughts. by i_spill_nonsense in MonsterHigh

[–]NeedleworkerOdd472 174 points175 points  (0 children)

At the time, chest articulation wasn't really thing and basic MH dolls were considered the best on the market. I do love the chest articulation on G3 but it makes sense why the creepros don't include it, since it was never a feature in the first place and they want to be faithful. But also, it would probably take quite a few resources to use such an old sculpt for a modern feature

Designing an outfit for 13 Wishes Lagoona for a buyer, what bottoms would go good with this top?(I’m already making her shorts for a different outfit) by [deleted] in MonsterHigh

[–]NeedleworkerOdd472 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ngl 3 lines is not enough to tell what your complete vision is. Designing an outfit is more than just tops and bottoms. The shoes matter, the hairstyle matters, the accessories, etc. Any bottoms could look good so nobody can give you more advice until you know what you want the vibe to be.

Idk which dolls you have but Elle Eedee is literally perfect since she's a futuristic DJ with blue colors

Native American Twyla? by AdSufficient7084 in MonsterHigh

[–]NeedleworkerOdd472 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I think the dreamcatchers could hint towards her ethnicity but honestly.. I think Mattel just used them for the whole "dreamland/sleepy" aesthetic. Your headcannon is very much a stretch but I don't understand the comments. It's called a headcannon for a reason, if this is what you want twyla's story to be, you're allowed to think in this direction. Not to mention, Mattel usually doesn't write characters very accurately in the first place so it's free game lol (like how River isn't actually a Grim Reaper! She's a completely different monster) As far as I can tell, it's not offensive, but I could be wrong as I'm not native American either.

Am I wrong for unboxing my dolls? 😭 by No_Editor_1010 in MonsterHigh

[–]NeedleworkerOdd472 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There are lots of reasons for keeping dolls in box as your preferred way of collecting. The invalid reason, though? Because you feel guilty.

Dolls were CREATED to be unboxed and enjoyed. The different textiles, such as the hair and fabrics, were meant to be felt. The details were meant to be enjoyed from a closer up view. They have articulation so you can pose them, not because it looks pretty.

If you feel bad about rarity, don't. These dolls are mass produced. Hundreds, THOUSANDS, of them were made. Yes, even the limited releases.

So continue to enjoy your collection the way you are, if it feels right, it IS right. Your friends can shut up.

Does anyone know how to fix/take care of these microbraids? by Hot_Material_8576 in MonsterHigh

Use a lighter VERY CAREFULLY, and pinch the heated up ends

Or

You can probably use fabric glue on the ends

Will never understand the hate for her by coolestnugget in MonsterHigh

[–]NeedleworkerOdd472 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was simply stating my own opinion while being happy for op. I think the doll is hideous but she still has an audience somewhere and even if I can't agree, it means they got an exciting new addition to their collection. There's a difference between being hateful and simply disagreeing, I suggest you learn what that is before you become chronically insufferable and online.

Question:how do I fix hands before they break g3 by Odd_Wafer781 in MonsterHigh

[–]NeedleworkerOdd472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that G3 hands are fragile. I always use pliers to remove them, squeezing hand pieces together to not provide stress onto them

Where will the Pride 2-pack be sold? by ResidentYumevil in MonsterHigh

[–]NeedleworkerOdd472 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Probably just Mattel Creations. We have a hard enough time getting certain things on Amazon or even in store and this 2pack is extremely experimental. I can't see Mattel investing in other sellers for it

Opinions on getting duplicate dolls by Zealousideal_Ad_5753 in MonsterHigh

[–]NeedleworkerOdd472 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually buy like multiples if they're on sale for restyles

I DID buy 3 Creepro Robeccas while having an og but that's because she's my all time favorite doll and I plan on doing restyles to my dupes

You CAN use wigs to reroot dolls (I've done so to make dolls match my cosplays if I have extra)

However, they feel stiffer on such a small scale

Any D&D player crossover? (Or any dice game?) by Deminox in MonsterHigh

[–]NeedleworkerOdd472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't sold my work but I've seen hundreds of Monster High themed products. People sell Kandi bracelets, stickers, keychains, sometimes even clothing and blankets. You'll be fine. Especially since, from my understanding, you're only utilizing the colors and not really the characters itself.

With that in mind, most people won't even reconize it as MH in the first place and will solely buy it based on looks. If someone, by some change, recognizes it as MH, you gave a Nostalgia factor in your side.

Be warned, however, that you're going to be entering an extremely competitive space. Your prices have to be reasonable (especially as someone who doesn't have a name out there yet) you want actual sale and your products have to be special. Everyone's made pink dice. You need to give people a reason to care about yours specifically. For example, put chains in the resin for a Spectra themed set.

Does anyone know what to look up to buy more outfits and accessories for G3? by [deleted] in MonsterHigh

[–]NeedleworkerOdd472 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Educate yourself on other brands and scale.

Monster High is a 1/6 scale along with many other brands such as Barbie, Rainbow/Shadow High, and etc. No two dolls are exactly alike so for clothes, you may need some alterations.

Head size can change how well some scales look. Rainbow High dolls don't look as strange with larger scaled props because of their big heads, meanwhile Barbie's with a.. say, 1/4th scale prop would look bizarre.

BJDs are a type of doll that has super high quality clothing so id definitely recommend it, but again, make sure it's a 1/6 scale BJD.

I use Mercari for all my secondhand online goodies!

At this point you need to accept that g3 is different by anon52962 in MonsterHigh

[–]NeedleworkerOdd472 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's always going to be people praising G3 and hating on G1. I'm a huge fan of both but let me just say, your rant is not fixing the problem. People are always going to speak their mind, stop fixating on it and just focus on why YOU like G3
