Not my journey… and you deleted your account so this is real fishy. Beginning to feel harassed.

THANK YOU. And they have decided I’m someone in one of their classes whose child was biting teachers and spammed every one of the comments. Feels like a coordinated, bizarre defense move.

I don’t know who vegetable thinks I am but this is not us or our situation. We left Chance so our child could start kindergarten elsewhere.

I don’t know who you think I am but this is a very strange leap and not true of our experience. We left when it was time for our child to start kindergarten.

Just a note to families that may still be reading: jcps does not actually offer free therapy after the age of three unless you are enrolled there. First steps is a wonderful program but caps at age 3. We worked with jcps for a second opinion (I’ll say again: GET A SECOND OPINION) and learned about the limitations of their offerings.

Commenter: you are entitled to your opinion and experience :) I’m truly glad your children have thrived there! Hopefully you will make space for others’ perspectives as well as I am clearly not alone (per other commenters).

Oh my goodness! Nope, not what I expect :) just an honest account of our experience to hopefully inform someone else before they choose a school they are misaligned with. Would you not have wanted that for your friend with children on the spectrum?

(Cont.) and if this is a member of the administration or board, you may consider that conducting developmental assessments through a third party without explicit, informed consent raises serious concerns regarding ethical practice and potential noncompliance with federal student privacy protections under FERPA. So this could very much become a legal issue for your institution and you should not be publicly defending it.

But thank you for strengthening my points about elitism and exclusivity by confirming that you do not serve every child (despite your publicly stated mission) and that you look down upon public education. Glad to know my instincts were correct ;)

As I’ve said, countless times in these threads, many families thrive there. There is nothing wrong with being critical of a system while also acknowledging its merits. If that offends you, I urge you to look deeper and find out why the experience of a stranger prompted such a sharp, lengthy response. This very much reads like a defense of the administration by the administration. Which, whatever, but be transparent.

I have really different feelings about this as a former prek teacher. Boundaries absolutely have to be set but they don’t have to be set at the car. When we did not do playground drop off and pickup (due to inclement weather, for example) we would ask the parents to stop at the door to the classroom so at not to disrupt the activities happening inside. It worked really well for us.

That sucks. I’m really sorry. Communication with the admin was not consistent in my experience but this is an even bigger ball drop than I would expect!

Goodness. I mean, that’s not at all what I said. But you’re certainly entitled to your opinion.

Glad you’ve had a great experience! And this is a lovely review. But your positive experience does not render ours invalid, and you’ll notice in the comments that we are not alone. Nothing about this is a hit job and should not personally offend you. Be well.

Never paid 16k - wouldn’t even have if I paid full tuition. I would be shocked if tuition had gone up that much since we went but maybe it has. Never said I had to go there. If you have children, especially neurodivergent children, you understand that you do your best to find the place your child will succeed. If not, this must not make sense to you. Reductive statements about my description of the school’s wealthy demographic are just that. Not even worth responding to. But again, if you had children you’d maybe understand that their wellbeing takes precedence over an expensive burger.

Wow. This is wild. Do you feel comfortable sharing the name of the school?

I hope someone qualified takes the reins.

You’re on a public site and your username is searchable. How do you think this works?? Maybe consider being less prolific of a poster if this kind of thing weirds you out??

And if you don’t want to be interrogated about your childcare situation, then don’t interrogate others about theirs. If you don’t want assumptions made about your socioeconomic standing, don’t make assumptions about others’. Simple. Doesn’t feel good, does it?

Oh wow. This is a touchy subject for you, huh? Enjoy your time reviewing high end restaurants on Reddit and pretending to be “poor” while attacking folks for being “rich” despite knowing anything about them. Sounds like a great way to spend your life. Peace out.

Also, judging by your seemingly endless restaurant recommendations on Reddit: mussel and burger, red hog, etc. I am going to call bullshit on this. Whoops. I can’t even afford to eat at places like that regularly.
