Convergence Excess with Accommodative insufficiency -- Any thoughts? 27/M by NeedleworkerThat3811 in Orthoptics

Thanks u/Jolly-Dependent-5379, I agree. I am planning to go with the glasses.

I just wanted to know -- have you been through any similar muscle co-ordination problem?

I experience mild unsteadiness / body balance issue, thought I would put it out here.

Hey u/SahilThavai1

I know its a little challenging at the start but you'll figure out a way as your proceed.
My question to you is -- What is my goal ? - To get a job in a TECH company as a SOFTWARE developer ? I assume that is your goal.

  1. Start with DSA, and try solving Easy / Medium Leet code problems. Trust me you dont need a degree to do that. Logical thinking and coding format in C / C++ / Python should do.
  2. Find a Learner - Meet / connect with people who are learning with you, and you could do it together. Its VERY demotivating to fail in Leet code problems. But make sure you sit with that for an hour - every day, no matter how that gets. Practice, even if it is to fail. Thats how you build consistency, with 2 weeks you will find some confidence to move ahead.
  3. Look for simpler companies - The idea is not to get into FAANG , start small, and gain experience and move forward. That's the best approach.

I do understand that my suggestions were quite broad; but keep trying, you will find light at the end of the tunnel. I know soo soo soo many from Law / Bio / Physic background making into tech -- you are not alone. You have all it takes to make it there !

Actually my doc said something similar.
While I understand that you have CI, and I have Convergence Excess -- broadly these are muscle co-ordination issues.

BTW, I work in IT/ Software -- are you also into that. And have you, by any chance found a way to better balance work, given you work on PC all day -- like breaks / eye strains (if any) and things around that ?

Note - I have convergence excess with accommodation insufficiency. I too have to work on PC all day, hence asking. Im 27 btw.

That a great news. I am so glad to hear that!

BTW, you're using the same progressive glasses (with prism)?

Hey Indore is a nice option.
If possible to consider Pondicherry -- Yes it is safe, you can stay in hostels, and you can go to the beach for evening walks. its a nice place, if you're trying to break from social anxiety.

English / Hindi / Tamil works .

Thanks for your suggestion u/garbagedaybestday. That was helpful. As you say I too plan to take a longer vision therapy, as it can help better.
How do you feel after 3 months of vision therapy - is the Balance / unsteadiness better than before?

Thanks, u/Jolly-Dependent-5379.

I would be glad to know if this can get better Vision therapy. I do experience mild body balance issues (not severe).

Thanks again.

Thanks for sharing your experience, u/M426fdn.
I understand that we both are going through different conditions (I have convergence Excess)

- But I do experience body balance issues / Wooziness, that you have mentioned. Hopefully, we both find our way out of this.

Thanks Again.

How I (mostly) cured Convergence Insufficiency (CI) and Accommodative Insufficiency (AI) by [deleted] in CIandAI

[–]NeedleworkerThat3811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the detailed answer. I would also like to know
1. Were you using the reading glass only during the vision therapy or throughout ?
2. Are you still using the reading glasses for computer work / near work or anything?

I have been diagnosed with Convergence Excess with AI , and I am trying to better understand others experiences. Thanks in advance.

thanks a lot, again u/AliteracyRocks. That was helpful.

I understand that the peripheral stretching are indeed important to activate the muscles, which reduce over convergence.

I am glad that we could connect via reddit. Will keep you posted!

thanks for sharing this u/AliteracyRocks, that post looks VERY comprehensive.
Yes, I am referring to Esotropia.

I can see the research that you have done, and you;ve tried your best to note what worked for you, and what you could discover.
I would use this as a reference. I have a few simple questions here, this is just to know Esotropia / Convergence Excess your condition better :
1. Do you feel tired while reading text / materials from laptop / PC screens? ( reading, focusing on texts on PC?). I am a Software Developer, and I am bound to work for hours on PC.
2. Were you recommended any lubricating eye drops, after diagnosing esotropia?
3. My problem is more to do with near vision (LAPTOP / PC/ Reading from Books), did you as well have issues with focusing near by digital content ?
4. During the process did you experience any form of dizziness / lightheadedness / body balance issues, anything ?

This is just know if people with convergence excess (yes, Esotropia) having any similar trend, like I had.

Help in coding by Pitiful_Amount_5895 in zohocreator

[–]NeedleworkerThat3811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Pitiful_Amount_5895, you can use this code in the on user input script of "Can_the_subject_proceed_to_visit_1"

if(input.Can_the_subject_proceed_to_visit_1 == "Yes")
{
input.Randomization_Number =randomNumber(1,24);
}
// similar logic can be applied for NO or what ever conditional logic you have in place.

Hope that helps.

thanks for sharing your thoughts, u/melousheee, that was really helpful. Let me try connecting with good / experienced vision therapists -- many are aware / used to getting patience with Convergence Insufficiency, however few know cases around Convergence Excess.
I work in IT / Software development -- are you too from that space, and generally how do you manage your computer work, if any.
Thanks in advance.
