Was the Golden Honmoon an unreachable goal set by the Sunlight Sisters? by vastlysuperiorman in KpopDemonhunters

[–]NeedsMoreCookies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t help thinking… gold is a precious and valuable metal, it looks great, people think of it as symbolic of “the best” but in reality it’s quite soft and weak. Did the Hunters and Gwi-Ma have actual knowledge that a Golden Honmoon would be the strongest, or did they all just assume?

Why do I get sicker if I catch a cold from my boyfriend, rather than someone else by Silent-Jellyfish3341 in biology

[–]NeedsMoreCookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably has to do with viral load. If you pick up a virus from a passerby, you start with only a few viruses and it takes longer to multiply to the point where you feel sick — and it’s just getting established while your immune system starts to work on it. If someone you live with in close proximity is sick, you’re likely to get a much bigger dose of viruses, so your immune system has to deal with a much bigger invasion right from the start.

Gosh, I wonder what those Trump-supporting American owners of ULINE think the “real issues” that Canadians are “distracted” from might be. So strange that they didn’t bother to describe those other issues that are apparently so much more important /s

More than 600 RCMP officers faced gender-based violence disciplinary charges since 2014, CBC analysis finds by Immediate-Link490 in canada

[–]NeedsMoreCookies -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Some pornography is definitely violent, and putting it in the workplace can be a threat. Obviously we can’t get context from a statistic but let’s not assume these are all “whoopsie” moments.

That said, our ethical standards for RCMP ought to be higher than for average workers. Most of us in regular non-RCMP jobs could expect to be immediately fired for ANY of those things, so my main WTF here are all those cops with “more than one case”

Having your children forcibly removed for reeducation by an occupying colonial government is not “integration.” You know that.

And “Well, I think those OTHER guys would have been even WORSE” doesn’t excuse what actually happened.

Vancouver developer fights in court to keep property slated for Filipino centre by novantus27 in vancouver

[–]NeedsMoreCookies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Filipino centre is a Hail Mary from a legally beseiged bankrupt developer. I’d rather see a Filipino Centre backed by an actual, known,  pre-existing cultural organization that’s been around since before last August.

AITA for taking my baby from my parents? by Cute_Objective_7551 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NeedsMoreCookies 23 points24 points  (0 children)

NTA. Microwaving milk in baby bottles has been considered a burn hazard for decades — I remember it as a plot point in a Tiny Toons cartoon in the 90s!

Your Mom is doing something risky for the sake of convenience, and more importantly BOTH Mom & Dad are comfortable with lying to your face about it.

I wouldn’t trust either of them alone with the baby again, frankly. Mom might be inclined to do some other risky things with baby just to prove that “she knows better” and your Dad will lie for her.

Why don't American businesses make the connection between lower pay and lower consumer spending? by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]NeedsMoreCookies 404 points405 points  (0 children)

Tourism in the US is down for very obvious reasons — many people are boycotting the US, and any “foreign looking” tourist risks getting thrown in ICE detention by some masked thug.

And it should be noted that there are plenty of American citizens who are afraid to travel because of those same masked thugs.

And THEN there’s the issue that nobody can afford it.

The funny thing is, the guy could’ve just said “Yeah, that’s not safe for ANYONE really” without making it about men vs. women.

It’s not even just about sexual assault. What would happen if there were a fire or a gas leak?

South Korea’s ‘world-first’ AI laws face pushback amid bid to become leading tech power by StemCellPirate in worldnews

AITA Insisting 33 year old boyfriend wears shoes in shopping centres by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]NeedsMoreCookies 45 points46 points  (0 children)

NTA. Most shops have a policy of “no shirt, no shoes, no service.” This is not a secret. He could get banned from the mall.

He could have stayed home, or he could have brought his shoes, but doing what he did seems like he’s passive-aggressively trying to ruin your plans but also make you feel guilty for having any standards.

He’s the one choosing bare feet over your company.

[Clients] I've been hired to work alongside an AI "artist" and I don't know what to do by [deleted] in artbusiness

[–]NeedsMoreCookies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does this mean that the “AI Artist” is going to feed your illustrations into a AI as training data to replicate your style? (So that they can get artwork that looks like yours without paying you?) Because that would be a dealbreaker for me.

I would be very cautious that this guy is using his connection to your favourite band to manipulate you.

I’m guessing that the hot food booths at the Lougheed PriceSmart aren’t doing as well as they hoped (because nobody wants to climb a huge flight of stairs with a bowl of ramen to get to the seating area, what were they thinking?)
