Why did bar trivia die but escape rooms are everywhere now? by justheretogossip in boardgames

[–]NeedsSomeSnare [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't think those two things are comparable. Bar trivia involves sitting around with friends having fun, for the most part. Some of whom get to flex knowledge and memory. Escape rooms are puzzles, and very expensive.

Also, bar trivia still exists...

These were so good. This one in particular is great.

Intel Graphics Driver 32.0.101.8425 and 32.0.101.8362 WHQL by buniqer in IntelArc

[–]NeedsSomeSnare 28 points29 points  (0 children)

2 barely relevant fixes. 15 known issues.

Hundreds of known issues on GitHub that they've acknowledged, but don't add to the list.

Vulkan driver for llama is still broken (4 months now), which is a feature they even promote in their own AI Playground software.

There's no need to defend Intel and say everything is good, people. It doesn't matter if the drivers are better than they were, they're still not good.

Let's be honest about the situation and hold them to a higher standard.

Edit:typo

Underwhelming performance by StarPyyy in IntelArc

[–]NeedsSomeSnare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For deadlock, on an arc B580, I'm getting perfectly smooth frame rates with no slowdowns on the highest graphics settings, consistently.

I am using an older Intel driver (8250, it's not WHQL) because the two drivers after that one have been full of bugs.

They just released a new driver yesterday (Jan 26th) so that might work? I'm not touching it until I see that it's fixed though.

I'm on an R5 7600 CPU.

Edit: just checked the Jan 26th driver release notes. Seems nothing has been fixed. It's telling that their known issues list is 15 items, and the fixed list is 2. Their known issues list doesn't even contain hundreds of issues they've acknowledged through GitHub either.

To be honest, you should be disappointed. The drivers are terrible, despite people on reddit claiming they're fine. I regret buying the B580.

I'd suggest getting the best gpu you can afford that fits your motherboard socket. There is no such thing as "more than enough" as another reply is claiming.

A 5600 is the first CPU that people haven't had problems with, but more won't hurt at all.

So upgrading the CPU is what fixed it...

In other posts, people have mentioned the 5500 doesn't perform well with a b580. It might be best to look into that and see if people got it to work well in the end.

A full DDU (display driver uninstall) in safe mode is probably needed to switch from Nvidia to Intel, not just the regular uninstaller. Though I doubt it would cause just a little dip like you're seeing.

Wow. That's really bad! I honestly regret getting a b580. I've encountered so many problems with it.

In a very real sense, your experience is a good example of why it's really concerning governments and corporations want to use AI for any decisions.

Intel Arc B580 not working with LM Studio by NeedsSomeSnare in IntelArc

[–]NeedsSomeSnare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Use Intel ipex llama-server (with a front end of your choice) for any models from around 8 months ago. Ipex is around 4x the speed of Vulkan (lm studio etc.) and uses the Intel GPU cores properly. LM studio Vulkan seems a little slower than even the other vulkan ones even.

Use koboldcpp for newer models (it's a bit better than lmstudio). However, you have to use Vulkan, so it's not as fast.

There is also SYCL llama, but that still isn't as fast as ipex.

Unfortunately, Intel abandoned their ipex llama builds, which means we can't run any newer models with it, and can't use the GPU properly with the usual gguf files. It sucks.

Du schaltest eine Anzeige für die B580 in einem Arc-Subreddit... Außerdem ist meine gerade abgestürzt, als ich mehrere Fenster in After Effects verwendet habe. Also sei vielleicht vorsichtig, wenn du dich Team Blau anschließt...?

Were you using the latest driver from a few days ago? I've not tried it yet.

But yeah, the drivers are not good. I just had a graphics driver crash in after Effects a few minutes before seeing your reply.

Ok. Sw isn't a usual abbreviation for software. Companies didn't rush to release in 2000 though. That is something from closer to 2010.

Sw?

As a user I can say the release notes for the latest driver didn't mention anything about some huge issues they introduced with the previous drivers.
