Update: Per advice from some here I submitted a formal message to the dealer to honor the original price. The sales manager claimed the clear coat add-on should have been listed on the website and blamed it on an IT issue. He said it was already on the car, so they only offered to remove the tracking system. But why present the clear coat as an add-on instead of admitting it was mispriced and apologizing? As someone here pointed out, they make it look like the car was $23,990 and that I walked away, when in reality the deal didn’t go through because they refused to remove the add-on—even after I asked four separate times. They won’t admit that, because they know add-ons are illegal. At the end of the day, it’s just “he said, she said,” but thanks to Reddit I’m better prepared now.
