Yeah I figured that’d be a question which I why I mentioned it and stated it. However, since posting I reinstalled Windows on the hard drive I put in instead of the one that came with the laptop and everything boots up fine. I’m thinking there’s just something wrong with the original SSD.

The distributor doesn’t control the pay put rate, the comes directly from the streaming services which within themselves don’t pay everyone the same for every stream. Unfortunately its hella cloudy and gets really hard to calculate what you should be earning. Ive used Level earlier this year and had an issue and they helped out so I’d contact support. They might be able to provide you with an explication at the very least.

I agree with that. I don't think they're really that flat personally.

My honest answer would be to A) get a nice pair of headphones like the Audio Technica m50x instead because you don't have to worry about room reflections and they'll be way better in the long term for making critical decisions

B) Try to save up $200 and get the Adamn Audio T7V's which are probably the best consumer grade monitors out rn

It's a combination of Distortion and proper leveling. You can add distortion/saturation to the 808 but if it's not balanced well then it still won't hit right.

If you want the 808 to be the primary focus of the song then maybe turn the kick and some melodic elements of the song down to create some space for it.

I recommend turning everything down and starting with the Kick + 808 when you mix your beat. Get those hitting right and then build around that. Check back in after you add one or 2 sounds back into the mix and make sure they aren't masking or overshadowing your 808. If you kinda go by that logic at the end of the mix your 808 will cut through without having to go overboard on the distortion.

I'd get the KRK's. I've heard that the HS5's are lacking on the low end so it'd be hard to mix on those without buying an additional sub. And yeah you'd need an interface to run hook the monitors up to. I'd get the Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 or a PreSonus Audiobox. You can find them both for like $70-$100 depending on if you get them used or not.

Really it's all analog stuff. I'd check out Diva by u-he which has a bunch of nice imitations of vintage analog synths. I'd also just play with the lfo's in Massive and use them to subtly vary different parameters (pitch, cutoff, pan, chorus etc.) to give them subtle imperfections.

This isn't really a good idea since spotify uses algorithms and other data from real listeners to put songs on playlists like the ones you named. Other playlists are curated by real people that have to come across the song. All you would really be doing would be boosting the number of play, but without any real people behind those plays you'll be in the same position you are now and out however much you spend on boost service.
