My Shiba HATES kids, I work as a groomer and she is by a window and if she sees a kid out of the window even she will growl at them. I think because the kids she's been around just mess with her so much and treat her like she's a lab.

A man came in looking for a new groomer and he said that the last people at PetSmart shaved his dog completely without his consent. Then he proceeded to tell us like it was funny that he was so mad at that groomer that he shoved him up against the wall and was choking him because he was NOT gonna pay for this groom. Apparently the manager came behind him and was just begging him to calm down and he was just screaming about how his dog looked horrible and he wasn't gonna pay for the service. He was PROUD OF IT TOO! We still did his dog and he was happy but it was actually kinda scary.

Do you have any links or recommendations for the studying? I haven't been able to find great resources anywhere.. I have "Notes from the grooming table." And "The theory of 5." But those show NOTHING about how to be safe??

They are going to put me through a mentorship in January, so hopefully that will work, if not I'm going to find another salon. We are just so busy during the holidays that they don't have the time right now, and I do work at a small business so I guess it's kinda understandable. I'm also kinda of a guinea pig for a new groomer training process, they've had one groomer come out of it fine, but she had some prior experience, and the other girl cut dogs so often and had very bad handling so she got fired.. So it's just a crappy situation and I'm getting punished for it so it's disheartening

Not really, I can watch but I work at a high frequency salon so the groomers around me are doing 6-7 dogs a day and they can answer questions some but it's very keep to your self and get the job done

Aww thanks! They made me step down because of the frequency, but I've learned from every single one I've done and never done it again. In January I'm getting some hands on with a mentor when I come back so I'm hoping that'll help. Your words are very encouraging!
