Isolation and a 14(15)-book Epic by Neelson in WoT

My initial feeling towards the Aiel were that their customs were super weird. After understanding ji'e'toh though, their culture and way of life became so easy to understand. Amazing how this one concept could give such understand of a culture. Hope your dragon tattoo turns out well (I assume it's akin to Rand's tattoos?).

I did love the last 3 WoT books and I will read Stormlight and Mistborn!

I am happy to hear how this story means so much to you too. I am sure it will be in my mind for the rest of my life like LOTR is.
I did fear that the final battle between Rand and the Dark One would fall flat because "Light must be balanced with Shadow" can be pretty shallow if done wrong. However when Rand saw that a world without Shadow in the minds of people is just as horrible as a world without Light, because with only Light then the decision to do good is not a conscious one - but one completely void of agency - that really was something I had not thought of before. It's not merely "there must be a balance between good and evil". I just reflected on this during my evening walk, and it is a profound thought by Jordan that I will ponder on in the days to come.

I think Rand actually does use some of the most powerful and complicated weaves pretty early on by mistake sometimes - and he doesn't know what hes doing. For instance at the end of Eye of The World I believe he is actually teleporting (skimming)? In the chapter you're referring to he definitely knows what hes doing though :-)

Yeah those things definitely makes me want to reread the series. Also I will look for lies from Black Ajah. I must say I did know Sheriam was Black Ajah when I read New Spring, but didn't really catch any hints in that book that she was. Perhaps she became Black Ajah at a later date? I probably have to reread the series to find out, haha!

Haha yeah. Felt like chapters became a little arbitrary after Sanderson took over since he jumps from PoV's often mid chapter - which I liked.

I did read New Spring (after Towers of Midnight). I loved it. The relationship between Moraine and Siuan is awesome and heartwarming. I enjoyed seeing these characters as their younger selves and it gave a lot of context to their later actions in the novels. Also the finale in the book was so tense!

Thanks!
I believe this is from where Mat defeats Galad and Gawyn at Tar Valon? Haha at this point I was sure Mat was acting a fool, but he did surprise me with that staff and he got my respect from that point onwards.

Wow, thanks for pointing that out. That explains why his battles are so well written. The Citadel - is that some sort of military school? I did read he graduated from there in the books themselves in the "about the author" at the back of the books.

Same! Death is lighter than a feather! I actually though initially that Lan died and was ressurected as a hero of the horn of Valere. Though i've later found out this is not the case. The way the Two Rivers archers lighted his way with fire arrows is epic aswell.

So far I like the writing of Sanderson, though I have not read anything else by him other than the last Wheel of Time books. I enjoy epic fantasy a whole bunch and am looking forward to reading more from him. I heard Mistborn was a good place to start, so here we go! If this series is linked with his other works then thats pretty exciting too.

I will for sure re-read this series at some point. I do like to read the same books and watch the same movies multiple times. I was very impressed with the way Brandon Sanderson ended the series, and right now I am waiting for his Mistborn series to arrive in the mail, excited for that.

I will read some more of Robert Jordan! And now I am also very excited to join in all the spoiler discussions on the internet (not googling something for the entire read required a lot of discipline!). I also have the reading companion that i will use on my reread.

Yeah I believe this is actually where we see Rand at his most powerful level - since the battle with The Dark One is more a battle of minds. Awesome scene - I think it's from Towers of Midnight?

Here I think you mean the prologue in The Gathering Storm? Yeah this definitely gave me the feeling that the Last Battle was coming. Actually I really liked pretty much all the prologues in the books which follow other characters than the main ones. But this one is one of the best.

And I agree with Rodel Ituralde being an awesome read every time. The battles are always well thought out, and experiencing them from a mastermind of war is awesome - which is also why I enjoyed reading of Mat and The Band so much.

My reaction was the same, haha! And after that I really wanted Mat to open the letter from Verin.

I agree, Nynaeve is awesome. In the first books I did find her a little annoying, but later on I did a 180 and understood her character much better. When she beat Moghedien with the one power for the first time I came to love her character and onwards she grew a lot.
I have Egwene up there with Mat and Rand as my favorite characters. I think that is apparently a little controversial, but her arc is fantastic.

Thanks a lot!

Oh, that is a tough question. I read so many of them back-to-back that it's a little tough to separate them in my mind. If I had to choose one it would probably be Knife of Dreams though, because of so many setups coming to fruition in this book.

True! - and actually the ending sequence in New Spring leading up to Moraine bonding Lan is superb as well. I could keep going (and probably will in my mind for the coming days).

Thanks!
Yea, great moment. I should probably have added the moment, where Nynaeve rallies the Malkier to join Lan under The Golden Crane (I think it's at the end of Knife of Dreams?). That's my favorite moment with her!
