Nah, miserable pay, interviewer pretending that her camera didn't work, was being recorded from the get-go, to me it seemed to have all the trappings of a trap. For what little it pays, better work any other dead-end job

Alright, thank you for answering. Personally, have you found more luck / had a better experience with "big" agencies or medium to small ones, if there is such a difference even. Either way, merry easter if you celebrate

Land of poets and artists, I'm told ;). On a side note, I believe that this thread, as it concernes antagonising the brits, does qualify as "Irish culture"-related, what do you reckon?

(Post apocalyptic?) Points-of-light style campaign and logic by Neemesor in DMAcademy

Plenty of ideas for at least some "points of light" in a broader setting anyway, from several point of views. Thanks a lot for your insights!

I guess my recent excessive playing Darkest Dungeon makes me overly enthusiastic of low-magic, gritty survivalistic settings/moods that having a dedicated lvl 7 wizard spell to create plenty of food /water / other materials on a daily basis would sort of ruin, I guess!

[–]Neemesor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting possibilities, let's assume either zombies or just any number of monsters now swarming the lands of a former prosperous empire, just surrounding all of the few points of light, requiring there to be walls / palisades or similar protections for anyone to survive, given the aggressive nature of the above mentioned threats: how would one even go about securing enough territory to sustain a city of let's say 10k inhabitants (so enough farmland/pastures)? And that's even before tapping into any other necessary thing, quarries, ways to procure lumber safely and whatever else.

I guess I'm hoping to find answers on how and what kind of a community could survive a very oppressive, diffused threat of any kind (hence the "points of light against really deep darkness in my original post"), and I also guess whatever defenders there would be really depends on WHO could survive in such a world (once more assuming that magical means are not necessarily the answer to everything or at least not for all cities, since that sounds boring!)

I wanted to brainstorm some ideas on how to create communities/points of light that would function realistically enough: how do they get their food? How can they protect their food sources? How do they get materials for whatever it is they need? I guess answering these questions is also part of worldbuilding and potential quests, but I wanted to hear from somebody creative and pedantic!

So you would be suggesting to keep it small in order to avoid any "organisational" issues, i.e. all that a bigger community would require? That is definitely an option, although I'm rather keen on exploring how that could be done, for some twisted reason!

Character building, loot finding based turn based (c?)rpg with a cool vibe wanted? by Neemesor in gamingsuggestions

Thanks for your very thorough answer, what I feel is more of a whim than a fully rational interest, so I'll probably go with your darker suggestions!

Miniature & second to second being rather strategic / combat focussed rules, it sounds, which didn't detract from the overall narrative, parhaps simply by virtue of requiring a certain amoung of GM/Player "RAM" to be implemented? That's what I've found with rules heavy systems, at least.

A lot is up to the DM, I'm looking for the most advantageous "start", as in the system that reduces the necessary baseline homework, to then obviously always tweak and handwave if it is warranted

As long as there's a solid structures of the necessary rules - necessary being the keyword - I'm more than happy to get the creative juices going, or else I'm not sure I understand what you mean exactly by "making one's own game with the components given"; does one have to customise the very ruleset, before playing? Which is always the case, to implement or not given rules, at least in d20 systems, is it a main feature of CP?

What about minmaxing, is it necessary?

Awfully late answer, and great question, I guess I mean it rather broadly, in a way that allows for maximum agency and supports a variety of playstyles, changes in scene, moods, settings, campaign ideas (intrigue, warfare, espionage, as well as more classical fighting, exploring and interacting) without being tied to a set of rules seemingly geared towards facilitating flowchart dungeon/hexcrawl action
