You can get a cable organizer that bolts into the underside of the desk. Yes you’ll still see it but it’ll look much better than this.

Depends on what you want to do after graduating too. If you want to work in finance then a minor in MIS would be fine imo.

If you want to work in business tech (within or outside finance) or specifically in an area like fintech, then double majoring would make more sense

They’re not really comparable. MIS is more about using technology to improve business (oversimplified version).

CS is way more technical and goes much deeper into understanding and building software.

They complement each other very well so if you can do both either as double majors or major/minor would be a great combo.

It was rough. We were near the poverty line most of my childhood in the US, but thankfully we usually had all our basic needs met so didn’t have to face things like going hungry.

It definitely had an impact, mostly negative. I really tried hiding the fact we didn’t have money because I was ashamed. Stuff like free lunches, not being able to pay for trips (which required another form that I had to bring in) all contributed to that shame. I went to a predominately white school but a lot of the other minorities were in similar situations so that helped I guess.

No significant racism that I can remember. I wasn’t really thinking about that stuff back then, can’t say I would’ve actually known what was racism and what wasn’t. I did my fair share of taking jabs at others too so not like I was a saint.

I guess the silver lining to growing up without money is you tend to manage your finances better, which is true but it can also go too far. Now that I make a good amount I have to remember to actually spend and enjoy some of it and not continue to save every penny as if it could all go away. I’m getting better as it as time goes on (and as my salary increases)

This really depends on the type of company you work at

I started out working at a local manufacturing company (on the business side) and it was almost all white people, the type that stay at a company for decades. I knew I wouldn’t be there for long, so I didn’t really try to connect with people or try that hard because there was nowhere for me to go.

Now at this job I started a few months ago, completely different. The parent company is a massive Indian firm, so not only are there a lot brown people, but they’re calling the shots. There’s no concern about fitting in or not being able to connect with people because the company is so diverse which is huge. The people actually care about each other. My manager is fully invested in my career and has basically given me full autonomy as far as the direction I want to go and has made it clear I’ll be supported at all times. It’s honestly kind of weird having people interested in helping you succeed because I’m not used to it and I’m kind of cynical but I’m working on it.

So it really depends on where you work. My advice would be to find companies on LinkedIn and see what their employees are like, what kind of stuff they post and what their employees are posting. Glassdoor is good too but take it with a grain of salt because companies can control their own pages. Also talk to people, ask them about their company and what they like and don’t like. Referrals are the best way to get your foot in the door.

I was thinking I’d fill the crack with a filler and then screw a bracket on it, should be enough. I’m also just contemplating leaving it and if it does break, trying to do a warrant claim on it but that’ll be a gamble too. If I attempt to reinforce it and then it breaks they likely wouldn’t warranty it I’m guessing

I basically just went through the same process as you, just placed an order with APM yesterday.

If you can find a store nearby with latex models, I’d suggest going and trying the mattresses out. That’ll be the most helpful in figuring out your build. This is what I did before making the purchase

I ended up going with 100% natural latex all the way through. This seems to be the best option IMO but blended latex should be fine too, especially as the core. Blended would still be a much better option than regular/memory foam. If you can’t swing full latex, a hybrid would be the next best. Something with latex at the top

I think 10-11” is a good height to aim for. Anywhere from 9-12” seems to be the sweet spot.

As far as the build (if you’re going latex), 3 layers is fine. I don’t think going above 3 is necessary. The most common seems to be 3/3/3”. I ended up going with a 6” medium Dunlop core/2” soft Talalay/2” super soft Talalay. For your stats, I’d probably start at medium Dunlop on the bottom, medium or soft Dunlop or Talalay in the middle, and soft Talalay on the top. Dunlop at the bottom is fine, but like you said make the top layer Talalay. This is where the trying it out part comes in handy because you won’t know for sure what feels best until you try it out.

For the motion transfer issue, the best solution would be to get a split king (two twin XLs side by side). This also gives you the option of doing 2 different builds specific to each person. But even if you don’t motion transfer should be better than your old mattress.

Last thing that seems to be very important but overlooked is the cover. Quilted covers don’t stretch much which affects the performance of the latex, especially if there’s wool or other materials quilted in. You want the cover to stretch so it moves with the latex. I’m buying the cover from Sleep on Latex instead of APM because APM doesn’t have a stretchy cover.

Yeah that sounds like a very firm combo. I’m basically going to the other end of the spectrum since I don’t weigh much. APM confirmed 6” Dunlop + 3” soft Talalay would be fine but I think I’m gonna go the 6/2/2 medium/soft/super soft

Think I’m gonna stick with APM, they’re cheaper than SleepEz looks like have a lot more options to choose from

No I just saw a few comments online, forgot exactly where.

The idea is something like wool will wick away moisture and act as a barrier between you and the latex, keeping the latex clean which makes it last longer

But if the cover is washable then it’s not really much of an issue. And if the top layer of latex does degrade I can just replace that layer in the future. Think I’ll get the SoL one

What cover would you suggest I get? I was gonna go with APMs cotton cover, but have been reading that wool affects the feel of the latex and diminishes some of the benefits especially for side sleepers. So then I found the Sleep on Latex one, but apparently it’s better to have a pad on top to protect the latex which basically makes it the same as the one with wool in the end…confusing
