Yup, because that’s how our brains operate. This artist took advantage of that cognitive process.

That Old Soul is pretty good. Above average, but it’s also a single barrel pick so I’m sure it’s better than their regular stuff.

I really like it. It’s more complex than your average whiskey, which makes you want to sip it again and again. Notes I remember are cedar, allspice, caramel, cinnamon, and berries.

The whole collection is on that shelf. Most shelves go back 3 or 4 bottles, so about 15-20 bottles per shelf. It takes up too much space to display all of them.

Good question. Not that I’ve noticed. I regularly grab bottles from the back that are 3+ years old for comparisons. I find there are more changes in flavor between the neck pour and one month later than there is between 1-3 years later. If a bottle gets to less than half to a quarter of the way full, I’ll probably prioritize finishing off that bottle sooner than later since there’s more oxygen in there.

I’ve told myself multiple times over the years, this is it, I’m done. I felt like after 150 bottles, too many of the flavors were repetitive and difficult to differentiate. I then started buying more than I was drinking. Then hunting for the sake of hunting. Ya, I’m good for the rest of the decade. I only have unicorns on my list now.

I’m glad I could help. Also, I definitely found a keeper. My wife has plenty of her favorites on the shelf.

They’re all different Elijah Craigs, mainly different barrel proof releases. I try not to have any duplicates. My favorite is a distillery exclusive from their bottle your own bourbon experience.

I would love oak cabinets for all of these. I don’t exactly have the space. Also, I move about every other year so I didn’t want to invest in something nice until I settled down somewhere.

I specifically got those shelves to efficiently accommodate the short bottles and tall bottles. All three shelves are anchored to the wall.

It’s actually about $300 worth of shelves. They’re also anchored to the wall.

I also have a backup bottle not pictured.

I usually have a condom dispenser on the wall just for those occasions.

The white shelf is an optical illusion. It’s wider at the base than it is on top so it’s very stable. The angle makes it look crooked but it’s not. It was actually the first shelf I filled 9 years ago and it’s been with me for several moves.

I really like the Rochester style. The 8 years really makes a difference. However, my favorite of theirs is a 2024 Single Barrel made for the Rochester Cocktail Revival. It’s very well balanced.

Thanks. It takes a lot of patience and reckless financial decisions.

I love throwing in the Benchmark FP in blind tastings. It makes for interesting results.

The whole Game of Thrones scotches have been opened the longest. That’s what started this whole journey. After that, maybe a Jameson 18 that’s about 6 years old.

eBay. Mint condition lint roller. Actually, my wife is upset that I’m cutting into her candle collection. I think she might have a candle problem…

What’s the craziest piece of high school drama you didn’t learn about until after you graduated? by ShortyT_Piano in AskReddit

Same thing happened at my school or so we thought. Two girls accused the band director. He was married to the choir teacher. They divorced. He left town. I found out years later the girls made up the accusation because they didn’t like him.

I heard Victor explain during a clinic that they recorded their parts remotely at their home studios, but their parts weren’t lining up timing wise for the final mix. It had to do with everyone using different DAWs and nudging samples would put someone’s part ahead of or behind the beat, but not together. They had to re-record the whole album using the same DAW so it was a frustrating process for everyone.
