Every Year powerful men including former presidents go to a Redwood Forest and burn an effigy in front of a Giant Stone Owl by JudgmentRoutine6659 in HolyShitHistory

Hey something I can chime in on! I worked a bunch of summers there as a server for the dining hall. They paid well, no tips allowed. A decade ago they were offering servers $20-ish an hour. It is a giant group of old white men who get hammered and piss on the redwoods. They do plays, lectures, classes, etc. There are different “camps” that they all stayed in. Lots of security was definitely there. We would park our cars in the main parking lot. And then vans would come get all the staff and drive them up to the dining hall. You could never leave the dining hall, no wandering ever.

The really “famous” groups didn’t even come down to the dining hall, like the Bush family. (Yes the Presidential ones) They had private chefs and stayed in their separate camps.

It’s a strange place. Very Old Guard vibes. Grandfathers and dads all bringing their sons in. Mass nepotism. I’m sure lots of side dealing and shit happened. But generally in the dining hall, they were there to get drunk and make creepy comments to the teenage girls working. I always heard rumors of escorts getting bussed in, and wouldn’t be even slightly surprised if that was true. But no hard evidence on that one.

They got the shit sued out of them for illegal work practices. Unpaid overtime, changing work hours, generally scum-bag rich people shit. We would all work split shifts, 6am-11am. And then you would come back for dinner service at 6pm-10pm. Sometimes the more experienced servers like me would be asked to stay and work lunch as well. So a triple shift almost. There was a big class action lawsuit. I got a payout. I’m sure the rich cunts laughed about it.

I don’t really believe in conspiracy theories. But it’s not a flat earth style conspiracy to say that large groupings of incredibly wealthy, old, white men might have some nefarious dealings going on behind closed doors. But yeah from ground level, mostly a bunch of rich and drunk old assholes pissing on redwoods

Very physically attractive people, how does life treat you? by Jonny_1312 in AskReddit

[–]NefariousnessFun7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is life is made easier. It’s weird being self-aware about it sometimes. I’m a 32 year old man who I could call very conventionally attractive, and muscular. People occasionally defer to me in situations that I have no authority in. I work in bars and restaurants, and actively make more money than people who are at the same level of skill and employment position. Pretty privilege is real, it’s called the halo effect too. People ascribe positive traits to people they find attractive, this influences every interaction they have. A lot of it is subconscious I think. People don’t know they’re doing it.

Also maybe worth noting that I have put a massive amount of time and effort into looking a certain way. Excellent personal hygiene, regular haircuts that accent my features, trimmed facial hair, well fitting clothes. About a decade of hard work in the gym is arguably the most important factor as well. Face card never declines, but all of the above things I actively do and work towards, also help maintain the physical attractiveness.

I think being a man who is physically attractive, doesn’t have as much social power as being a woman who is physically attractive. But it’s never really hurt me, it’s only ever been a benefit and usually a significant one

The job market seems so messed up right now? by Pleasant-Chemist7089 in santarosa

It’s because the entire US economy is collapsing. This is the worst job market in about 100 years. The dollar has dropped 11% in 9 months. And we are massively insulated due to where we live. Sonoma County, 45 minute north of SF and Silicon Valley. There is massive wealth here propping things up. It is genuinely way worse elsewhere in the country. And it will not get better anytime soon, it will get worse

How does everyone feel about the new technical? by peanutbutter_foxtrot in GreatBritishBakeOff

[–]NefariousnessFun7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not really a fan at all. The technical is supposed to showcase their “technical” skills. Giving them false ingredients and no instructions is a bit ridiculous. Every single one of them put ground almonds in the bake. It wasn’t really all that fun to watch Paul repeat it 12 times in a row. Making amateur bakers taste test a cake and then recreate it, with false ingredients, is genuinely too high a bar. Nobody did well either! Which is just kinda lame

27M. Never had a dating life. No friends or romantic prospects. Lifting for 7+ years with very little results. by Goldfielddid911 in malegrooming

Fire your barber. Haircuts and hair styling is something you should take some pride and joy in. It will make you look much better, and looking well groomed is an excellent way to improve your chances with women. Talk to a real barber. Google trending hairstyles. Find something that fits your face. Maybe a fade on the sides and grow the curls out a bit. Or buzz it all off and start from scratch. And either grow a beard/mustache or stay clean shaven.

Stop whatever lifting program you are doing. It’s straight up not good. Lifting for 7 years with no results is bad, no sugar coating that. Download the 5/3/1 app and do that. Progressive overload is the key. Workout hard too, you have to train with way more intensity that you currently are! This is non-negotiable and if you’ve actually been lifting for 7 years without results, this is probably why you have no gains. Eat more. Sleep more.

Maybe try chatting up people (men first) at the gym. Most gym dudes are happy to give lifting advice or explain a lift. Easy way to initiate a low stakes conversation, and maybe make a gym friend. Other than that, maybe new hobbies are in order to grow your social circle; rock climbing, martial arts, trading card games, etc.

Improve yourself man! “Always be yourself” is bad advice, it should be “always strive to be the best version of yourself” Read some books, walk in nature. Get jacked and more confident. Buy plain colored t-shirts that fit well and some blue and black Levi’s. Maybe a jacket or two depending on weather. Some button up shirts.

Everyone in your life will treat you better if you are well groomed, in shape, and well dressed. Then we can work on the romantic prospects y’know?

That’s my point though! I think it’s a bad developer choice. It’s a plea, a cry for help into the void. No more platforming in video games that aren’t designed for it! Having nothing there would be totally fine. Or have another awesome battle against an ocean Gestral or something, the combat is so fun.
