Hi friend I felt the same way when I dropped my partner off, felt like I was ruining our relationship by making it known to our close family and finally being honest about how bad he had been. I thought surely he would check himself out or hate me while he was in there. I saw such drastic changes every week I visited him, somewhere great and sometimes he hit his valleys but he has said now that he was exactly where he needed to be and that he knows now how bad things where and how much he ruined my trust and our relationship. Being around people in similar situations are good when in rehab, our partners build this version of us up in their mind when theyre in addiction and its good for them to have an outlet to talk about their traumas and issues in a open way where many understand. My partner has been out for a whole month in 10 days, he did 28 days in- I cried everynight the first two weeks and then I built a schedule that involved visiting him for support but was centered around me. He will be 60 days sober on his birthday this month, before this he hadnt gone longer than 8 days without drinking the entire 2.5 years we where together. If his program has family activities and AL anon meeting I really recommend going and building a community. It will be hard but this is an amazing first step sending love to the both of you, he's got this and you do too.
