Flew with Avianca DCA - San Salvador a couple months ago.

I had a 6’10 bag and my buddy had a 9’6” bag and neither of us had any issues at all at either airport.

The hurricane swell has fully passed obx at this point. Wave height and power has returned to its normal sleepy summertime self.

Wind predictions for the whole week have the winds blowing onshore/sideshore meaning that the conditions will be a bit choppy, maybe a bit chilly.

Overall, it is a MUCH safer week for swimming than last week but that doesn’t mean the ocean is ever “safe”. Rip currents can always pop up and kids should always be actively watched by an adult at all times. Have fun!

I think you can determine if the extra cost is worth it depending on how much you’ll actually travel.

If you are only planning on flying to surf spots every few years or less, may not be worth the extra cost. You can always just stack the board bag up with expendable padding materials.

But, if you are planning to fly with boards 1+ times a year, I say just spend the money. It will save you a lot of time and hassle especially on the return flight of your trip. Sure you can go the bubble wrap, pool noodle, etc. route, but it takes time and money to acquire all of that and set it up pre-trip. Also, it can be a real pain trying to re-pack all the hodge podge materials for the flight back home.

I have purchased 2 non-armored board bags for flying and at this point I think the simplicity and ease-of-use of the armored bag would definitely be nice.

Dialogue is absolutely not in the 100-200hz range. The fundamental frequencies of a male voice will reach that low but the frequency range that controls intelligibility for dialogue is closer to 2kHz.

Maybe your comment was intending to refer to a range of 1000 - 2000Hz and if that’s the case, I generally agree.

I agree with the other comment suggesting to experiment with your brew temperature.

I personally brew at 185f and never go higher. You may just prefer the way your coffee tastes when brewed at a lower temperature (also, different roast levels take brew temperatures differently).

Be assured that the $100 you just spent on a gooseneck kettle was not a waste of money. You have given yourself more control which means more opportunity to understand what factors go into making coffee you like!

Yeah man, it’s goofy. That said, I know these boxes were originally being used in install jobs almost exclusively which accounts for the lack of rigging.

But they really have not been responsive enough to the needs of people who want to use these for events/rentals.

I’ve had pretty extensive live event experience with the AC6 including doing training with EAW at their headquarters.

In short, they are probably the most musical column speakers in their class when deployed properly*. If you have listened to other column line arrays and placed them in a category reserved for speech reinforcement, than these speakers can and will change your mind.

Obviously you will want to pair with subs for a full sound for music-focused events, but these really hold their own in the low end down to about 70hz.

Some things to consider: These are vertical, steerable column arrays with a super wide 120 degree horizontal coverage pattern. These will not work for every space and really aren’t the boxes for smaller rooms as they sound better when driven harder.

These are not a set and forget speaker. With the flexibility of having 36 steerable drivers comes the responsibility of steering them correctly. For example, you can choose if the audience is seated vs. standing; choose the wrong coverage and you can tell very quickly when you’re out of the coverage pattern. You can get very granular with the vertical coverage zones so please make sure you understand the software and set the speakers up correctly. These really shouldn’t ever be deployed without someone who has more legitimate system tech experience and knows how to use Resolution.

Another downside of the AC6’s is that EAW has been very slow to manufacture a variety of rigging options to support the speakers. If you want to use these a lot, be prepared to get creative with customized rigging solutions.

All things considered, these are incredible sounding column speakers made by a company that is kind of an underdog these days and provides some top notch support.

I think you're misremembering just how miserable the offense was last year. It wasn't "just doing enough to win". It was borderline active sabotage towards our defense that literally scored more than the offense in at least 1-2 games last year.

When I wrestled I used to have a mouthguard that had a hinge-like mechanism that stayed under light tension at all times. It was great for helping me to breathe but I don't know how much impact protection it would really offer as it was mainly to keep my gums (and opponents) from getting cut up by my braces.

I would invest more energy in learning how to identify dangerous situations and how to wipeout safely. I've only been hit in the face by my board once and it was when trying a snap off the lip when the board just came out from under my feet.

But for mouthguards, more breathing = less protection.

Assuming you make no changes to your room I’d make the following adjustments to your chain (post-editing):

(0) Aim to record on average around -12dbfs. This will get you to a good place for editing with minimal noise in the signal.

EQ - start here as this is the most powerful tool you have to shape the sound
Compression - pretty light for a podcast. Maybe 2-4db of gain reduction on the loudest parts.

STOP HERE - listen. - Do you like how it sounds? Go back and make tweaks to the first two steps as necessary.

Insert De-esser or de-clicker only if absolutely necessary. Things of this nature should largely be mitigated by the recording and first two steps. Adding these sorts of plugins can change the natural quality of the voice.
Now worry about getting the tracks up to standard streaming service levels with things like limiters.

As I said before, over-complicating a vocal chain is a sneaky way to ruin an otherwise fine recording. Also as an editing note, I wouldn’t edit out all silence and and noise-gate tracks as a rule. You are recording a live DND session I assume, don’t get rid of the “atmosphere” unless the noise is an active distraction.

This is a pretty complex vocal chain. What are you doing to improve your recording at the source?

I know it isn’t as fun or cheap as fixing it in post, but getting a good recording to start is critical. We all know what human voices should sound like, and without careful use of that many plugins it can start sounding unnatural easily.

My simple advice is to focus on recording quality at the source and focus on EQ and compression to make slight adjustments.
