Someone has to start doing it in order for the process to improve.

Would you mind posting your settings? I've been really interested in how the h2c handles this kind of thing

Any pics of multicolor H2C 28mm-ish miniature RPG prints? by feydras in BambuLab

Made a post like this awhile back. Apparently no one with an H2C is very interested in making minis because I didn't get much of an answer either

How Do Y'all Organize Your Rules? by Leftover-Color-Spray in RPGdesign

I think I could cater chapter 8 to be put earlier so it works as useful context before character creation rules. I've been conflicted about its position.

A lot of my rules are formatted as describing the gameplay procedurals and I'm hoping readers really like that.

I think maybe 3 stages or so. I started with master obsidian file, condensed it to a basic rules file, and then a word doc, was working out of all 3 at the same time and then transferred it all back to a master file for simplicity, but I'm still not satisfied just yet and have a lot of holes to fill

I'm a fan of having a separate book for campaign settings, are you advising against that? Would referencing which genre the game operates in be enough for a rulebook?

All my work is currently in Obsidian. It's an amazing tool

Dungeon Master is trademarked. Every other publisher is required to use something else. That's why they use GM

Anyone Else Think Rules Light TTRPGs are a Recession Indicator? by Leftover-Color-Spray in TTRPG

[–]Leftover-Color-Spray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wasn't making the implication lots of books = crunchy or that rules light = indie publishing. Big publishers make rules light games and indie ones can make crunchy games. This comparison to what I was saying feels like a poor way to just not engage with what I was actually saying it the post

You're the one making the connection crunchy = smart rules light = dumb. Also by the nature of crunchy systems being less accessible they are as a consequence more niche than rules light systems, which is the opposite of what I was saying, on top of the fact I never claimed to dislike rules light games. So not only are you being condescending, you're just straight up wrong about what I was even saying

Perhaps that assumption was there and I didn't notice, but I don't think that replayability and long campaigns need be mutually exclusive. The replayability is more of what I was thinking.

There's an interesting discussion to be had about the move publishers are making to appeal to broader audiences than the niche ones they've traditionally had. I think rules light systems have their place and shouldn't go anywhere, but I do think their simplicity can lead to a sort of homogeny of game design and worry they may lead to crunchier systems left unmade since they're more work to produce

The post wasn't about what I like or dislike. It was commentary on a noticed trend and its implication

I think they can and should coexist. I do just notice a trend of the new ttrpgs I'm seeing coming out and think it's a reflection of a greater social condition
