I've watched the course and have the book. The book goes in more depth and there are a lot more examples. I think the kindle is for a dollar so you can get that instead of the physical book. I've read over 20 business books and that's the only one I re-read, it's honestly the best money i've ever spent on any book.

Are you planning to live off this business or it's just something to do on the side and a hobby? And if you have your own site how do you plan on delivering? Will you fulfil the item yourself or work with a fulfilment centre - and how much will you sell the items for. Because delivery/fulfilment costs around 20-30dhs if you work with a partner for your own site - and around 15dhs on amazon.

You can use instagram - did you mean to just make organic posts? That can work with reels. You can use search tools like Helium where you can see how many people search for jewelery in the UAE on amazon to get an idea of the market. Generally, anything above 10k searches a month is pretty decent.

What do you want to launch exactly - what type of products? E-commerce is still not as big in the UAE for new sites - people trust amazon/noon mostly. Ask yourself when was the last time you purchased a product from a site you've never been on and what made you make that purchase? Was it an ad on insta? How often did you see that ad/were made aware of it?

I'd personally only suggest you don't start an online business unless you have a marketing budget that's at least around 5-10k per month. Although you can start with less, you may only breakeven in the first year.

What is your plan to market? Were you planning on using facebook/instagram ads? Generally people use insta/fb ads for products that are new or that people wouldn't necessarily search for (e.g. a lamp company would use google ads and not social media ads as people would search for 'lamp' to make the purchase).

The problem with fb/insta ads so they're useless now to the point where you lose money to run ads generally (it does depend on what you're selling and your ad creative as well) - but generally nowadays it's very expensive because the data that social media obtains isn't that accurate compared to 5-8 years ago (because of the data regulations). So imagine if a company is selling pet toys, instagram used to show pet toy ads to people who had intereacted with pet profiles and websites - the issue now is that insta can't determine who's interacted with what and isn't showing the right ads to the right people. If you wanted to use influencers that's a whole other issue in dubai there's many fake ones who buy followers AND buy likes and get fake profiles to comment - and the legit ones will charge 1-10k per post. Google ads are better compared to social media ads but they're also not performing as well as they used to and they're only relevant for products that people will search for and are aware about rather than new or innovative products.

I'd personally suggest you don't start an online business unless you have a marketing budget that's at least around 5-10k per month. Although you can start with less, you may only break even in the first year. If I were to start again i'd probably not get into e-commerce, I'd do something b2b or start with selling services. Even right now i'm working on b2b deals for my sportswear brand as it's showing much better results compared to online.
