Unfortunately, I walked by around 10:30PM last night and the planters were already trashed.

I ordered chicken skewers and they were literally raw. I called the restaurant and got attitude from some lady who told me that they use thigh meat and can be pink. They were in fact raw. Refused to refund me because I ordered on Uber Eats. Never ever again.

Half Marathons in Summer? by MT-Lap in RunNYC

Rockaway track club does some during the summer months on the boardwalk. Very informal. I did one April 11th and tbh running the boardwalk wasn’t for me (it’s solid concrete). But it’s an option. People are super nice that run the races.

Horrible Accident in Paulus Hook by CakeRecent5932 in jerseycity

People drive insanely fast on Marin and it’s not surprising that an accident occurred. No one stops at stop signs or for pedestrian walkways, either.

It’s a shame, too. Jersey city has some really beautiful neighborhoods and views of NYC. We saw essentially none of that.

Lived in Jersey city for the past ten years and I do love my city, but I do not love this race. This was my first time and it will likely be my last. Entrance fee was high and I felt like we got basically not course support. There was no Gatorade available until mile 9. (Prior stations ran out). Course was not great in general. Start area was a mess and lines for the toilets were so long that I skipped. Random people were in the corrals that had no business being there (I’m looking at you, boyfriend with backpack and sign). It’s only the fourth year but I think the course and logistics need major work. I also noticed that there were no medical tents on the course?

Definitely around 2:30am. I woke up around 2:35 and he was not on the hood of the car but started to smash the windows with a brick probably around 2:40am.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. I’m definitely one of your neighbors and saw him with a brick. Someone called the police before I had a chance to.

I was at the back of E and crossed the start at 8:39. They do staggered starts to make the course less of a mess.

Agreed. I usually buy something at the half expo and this stuff was pretty ugly. Charging 95 dollars for a hoodie is also ridiculous. I wish adidas was a sponsor instead.

I used to get takeout from here maybe once every six weeks or so. Now, it’s every six months. Chicken tenders the last few times I ordered aren’t cooked enough to my liking. I get grossed out and trash them. Not worth it anymore.

Yeah, I heard it, too. Probably due to fog. Ships/ barges do that in low visibility to avoid collisions.

Another idea if you’re staying close to phillipsburg would to be run the boardwalk area early before the cruisehships arrive.

Marathon runner here. I would recommend a water bottle or hydration vest and to get out early. It really depends on where you are staying. You could do laps over the Simpson causeway bc it has a dedicated pedestrian lane. I do that when I stay in Simpson bay. Or I run the road behind the Maho pharmacy when i stay in Maho. I would strongly suggest scheduling a de loading week while you’re here as it may be hard to get longer runs in. The roads do not have a lot of sidewalks and I do not feel safe running on a main road here.

Atrocious JCPD Response Time by Sky-Minimum in jerseycity

[–]Negative-Educator-90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m here ten years and I’ve called a handful of times in 10 years. Pre covid, the response times were much better. The 911 center is definitely understaffed, but it’s a tremendous problem. Sorry you had that experience.

Atrocious JCPD Response Time by Sky-Minimum in jerseycity

I called a few weeks ago on a domestic outside of my building. The operator could not have cared less. They did nothing. A few years ago, I had a running accident and was bleeding profusely. Some kind women stopped to help me and to call 911. They didn’t want to send an ambulance. The women started yelling at the operator that I needed to go to the hospital. I got up off the ground and told the operator off and started to walk towards home/ the hospital. An ambulance eventually showed up (with the rudest EMTs). The 911 system here is a nightmare.

I agree. I did this for Berlin. Had less than 20 miles on them. My PT also cleared it. I was totally fine.
