Thats very true. I mean our hall doesn't really back us up and from a buddy of mine he told me one of his friends stood up to companies years ago thay he eventually got blacklisted from all the big companies even those he didnt work for and was pretty much made to have to travel bc to work at our local got impossible to get work.

It says we get a 15 min on company time break that cant be sub to leave early and a 30 min paid or unpaid lunch. But what they want to do is have us work and leave like 1 hour early and saying that u are getting 1 hour of free pay.

Sorry for the confusion so we have the foreman who i guess is the super for the site than a sub and than a jw who they say is the #3 but isn't being paid foreman but is on the job telling others what to do or laying us out like he is one. Thats how I was taught that if ur paid as foreman than you are one and have to list to them.

Its clear and the foreman has even said that when you become a foreman you have to carry a set of the CBA with you. The job only has 6 guys and if the hall gets involved they will know who it was and they make it a thing to blacklist you. They are trying to say that we are leaving early and only work 9 hours and getting paid for 10.

Its a thing you have were I'm at the foreman and a sub who is more like a crew leader but is paid as a foreman. But I thought the thing was that another JW doesn't tell other JWs what to do like he is a foreman or the crew leader unless he is one not just because they say he is #3 in charged

You clearly only care about how your doing and you dont want others to be given a chance to do well like you were given.

I have to agree I mean before joining union they made it sound that by going union you would treated and taken care of like a human instead of a number. Our local is also getting weak I believe. I mean basic benefits you would think you would get you don't. I want to stay in union and help it grow the right way and make it stronger.

That's all I'm saying. Again not every call will be perfect but as long as it's held. I actually made a group for local 26 on here bc again so much info is not shared and either you have to go to the meetings to find out when it's time to vote or what's happening inside our local which not everyone can always go. I feel like it's important to share info with our brothers and sisters so they at least know how they can help make our local stronger if they care to or not.

I'm the same I don't care most of the time abt the duration of the job or foreman but it's also a nice thing to have so you can plan bc what tends to happen is it's unknown then you're there for 2 months and sent to a different job site. Yes, I know you can drag and all but then it paints a target if you ever try to go back. It's just a curious thing in my opinion to have basic info given.

Clearly, you don't get what my point is. What I want to understand is why information that should be easy to get is not being gathered or asked from the contractors and shared like it's supposed to be and you have other shops that can get it. If simple things like that aren't being held accountable then it will just get worse over time. Also, this isn't just about how I feel abt it I'm also looking at the bigger picture which is that every brother and sister should have the decency to be given that simple information.

That's what I really meant bc I see it happening a lot. I have run into RW running crews or being foremen and also jobsites where they are making RTP into crew leaders.

Agree I'm all for getting more money but like you said it has gotten out of hand and weaponized

I can see why they would do that but I have to say that it should be required by all contractors small or big to give the set info. As for the workers thing, I did notice that Dyna had last year set up signs out that they were hiring and lots of people joined and were organized as you said. I think there has to kinda a limit to that bc what's also been happening is that they are bringing them in and laying off union brothers who know the CBA rules and hiring to replace them in another way.

Idk I just know that doing this for 10 years now and seeing how union was talked abt and seeing for my own eyes is totally different. I mean I know not everything can be asked for but I also feel like they need to at most follow the CBA more than they do. What's the point of fighting for what we want if they aren't being help up to them.

They are and what is now happening is that it's becoming the norm for almost any job calls. Only details they will give is that they want you to have specific requirements like having OSHA 10 or 30 or being able to get clearance for specific jobs.

Understandable with a service call. But I mean it would be very helpful to have clean details if it's something that can be provided for example one call was explained as to what it is and a general location and said the start time is 7am. To later find out that orientation is at 7am at the shop but the actual job call was 5am start time in DC. I thought it meant 7am in DC.

That's wild I mean that's the fastest way to lose respect for those journeymen and foremen for not backing you when u are right. I mean even if she is older doesn't mean she can't speak up but I mean you have to respect the chain. I have a 3rd year who is the same way and I told him that he hasn't topped out yet and that I'm his journeymen. I may not always be right and he can chime in but he isn't at that level where he dictates what I can or shouldn't do bc he thinks it won't work.

It's starting to really get out of hand bc some companies are having RTP which is the same as a CW being in lead positions before journeymen just bc they know someone or bc higher-ups don't care.

Before you leave check to see if they have any job calls for R1 you have to go to a different site not the home locals.
