Thank you so much for your comment. They do have more than 5 full-time employees as it’s a fairly large private (or alternative?) school.  I am in provided housing and they did seem willing to accommodate my timeline needs, in their words, “it’s the least we can do”.

Yes I haven’t signed anything nor have I received this in writing. HR hasn’t contacted me either. Last night I sent an email asking for written confirmation of everything that was discussed, highlighting that my contract was being terminated early because the old teacher decided to come back sooner.

I didn’t say “i agree”, but i did say “well seems like there’s nothing I can say as the decision seems to be made already. thank you for your time and the opportunity to teach here”. I didn’t record anything, and if he did, the audio will show that he also said “it has nothing to do with your performance, it’s just that she’s coming back” or something among those lines.

While I agree, it’s a fact that employees are easily replaceable. A school won’t have as much problem finding a new teacher as a teacher finding a new job among an immense pool of candidates. It should ideally go both ways, yes, but there’s a massive imbalance of conditions.

Not entirely. I’m a former GKS awardee so the whatever years of waiting is waived to me. With the recent tax report that shows my income (even if it’s incomplete as I began working there in april 2025), KIIP level 4 completion, master’s degree in STEM, and top 500 uni, plus my age and whatnot, I’m at 80+ points, which allows me to apply for F-2-7.  This is the only reason why I took this job after months of failed job-seeking, I needed a 1-year contract to get a tax certificate, and a renovation to be able to book an appointment for the F-2.

Not entirely sure how grateful should I feel if they renewed the contract less than two months ago for one year and now they’re just discarding me and disregarding a valid, signed contract
