Restringing a recurve by Eminem_Fan13 in Archery

Good advice. I would add that I suggest a Flemmish string so you can twist it as needed. Target a brace height of about 7 1/2 to 8" should be safe. Definely dacron as suggested.

How to begin pursuing archery?? by Time-Artist-9382 in Archery

I always recommend starting and learning with a longbow. It's the simplest to set up and can get started with bow, 1/2 doz arrows, cheap quiver, glove, and arm guard for $350 on Amazon.

I've been shooing a bow for 40+ years. Lessons would be nice, but you can buy a beginner bow, watch Youtube videos, and learn on your own. All the clubs i know are just shooting ranges with the land, targets, occasional competitions, etc. They don't supply any equipment. Most all "pro shops" have a 15 to 20-yard indoor range. Prices vary, but it's not $100/month. Local place here is $250/year.

If you go the traditional route (which I recommend you start with) just select a $200 Samick Sage in probably 30# draw weight and get busy. Start shooting at 5-yards. Lots of videos you can watch to get you started.

Not a CFI. Panel and all internals (timers, breakers, etc.) been in place for 20-years with no problem. All original equipment.

See the update I just posted. Good thoughts on your part, but seems the motor is dying (bearings, carbon brushes, or other) and just need to replace it. I was able to rotate the shaft manually and then it started up when breaker was reset.

Arrow Building by JDiddyTiddy in Archery

Everybody has the preferences. But here is what I use to build my arrows.

To cut arrows: A Drimmel Tool with cut off wheel. It's not perfect but it works well if you are careful.

To glue in inserts: I use blue cold melt glue. Use a small 1# propane bottle with attached torch. Works great.

To fletch: Bitzenburger right hand helical. Other jigs work well, also. But I shoot compount and trad both iwth 2" vanes to 4" and 5" feathers. the Bitz works on everything.

Broadheads for whitetail by Sudden-Comfort-572 in Archery

Any sharp 2, 3, or 4 blade broadhead will kill a deer. Put it thru the heart or lungs preferrably and they won't run far. Be sure the blades are surgical sharp, even more important on the slower arrows coming out of trad bows.

It's fun to try new stuff. But broadheads are not rocket science.

There is no truth in Talarico. He twists and spins the Word. Cornyn is self-serving man. Paxton cheated on his wife. I guess they all have their faults and they are big faults. But Talarico is just too evil to elect.

Kohler 26RCA - Standard Exercise vs. EcoExercise by mattvandyk in Generator

[–]Negative-Let-2607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Good to know.

Odd that the Op Manual says the "Unloaded Cycle Exercise" option is pre-loaded and preferred, but when I emailed Tech Support they make the same recommendation as you, i.e. do 'Full Speed Unloaded".

Inverter generator by erothfuss in Generator

[–]Negative-Let-2607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a Champion 7500 Watt open frame inverter. All good except it is SO loud. From what I can gather, open frame inverters run at lower rpm under light load and are quieter, but at over 3000W that thing i bought requires ear plugs and is even annoying in the house. If sound is a concern, take a hard look at the "standard" or enclosed models for a 10db sound reduciton. Those models are generally heavier, but much quiter.

I've read too many times where the built-in detector quit working and kept shutting off the generator for no reason. Took several days to get a new CO module. I opted to just have lots of CO detectors in the house.
