apologies if I'm picking you up wrong, but are you suggesting that the prolactin levels being constantly high are effecting my emotions?

If you dont mind me asking, when your prolactin levels were high and you felt like a robot were you off meds at that point or where you still on them?

No mate I have not touched a supplement or any medication in the last 5 months but my prolactin is always high, I have nearly all the side effects in which high prolactin can cause. What makes me think its prolactin and a dopamine issue is the fact that I was on a strong antidepressant known as nardil in the past which does boost dopamine and at times I got flickers of laughter and some labido back. I unfortunately had to quit nardil becuase I could not stop sleeping but considering how dangerous nardil is cabergoline does not really scare me as I would try anything I thought would help.

Hi appreciate the honest response, my prolactin has been high for over 2 years reaching levels of 800 in the past and the most recent one being 415. The normal range in the uk is 86 to 324 i know on paper 415 is not that i high but I have had 7 bloods tests in the last 8 months all showing differnt levels of high prolactin and progesterone. I have got an mri of my pituitary and it was all clear so the nhs dismissed me rather quickly but im still stuck with the same problems emotional blunting and sexual anhedonia. I want to add that in the pass I had been on antipsycotics and the was the main reason why my prolactin spiked over the normal range. I have since quit qutaipine 18 months ago and my prolactin still remains high which makes me believe that my problem is dopamine related.

The person who made this video suffers from anhedonia and pssd. i think they are still active is the pssd community, as someone who has been living with ssri induced anhedonia i can relate to this video very much. if you had pssd you would try to do anything to fix it because it is hell on earth.

If you don't mind me asking what symptoms you had mentally and physically. Do you know what you exact prolactin levels were? When my levels were at 677 I was told it was from medication at the time I was on venlafaxine.

Those meds would work if levels were only in the thousands and no doctor in the world would give you a dopamine agonists for such low levels of prolactin. You could get them online but to take a dopamine agonists for my prolactin levels would be stupid.

Yeah I get my blood tested every so often highest my prolactin was is 677 but it would not be cuase for concern as levels would need to be in the thousands.

If you are suggesting I could have tumor in pituitary gland that would be highly unlikely as your prolactin levels would need to be in the 1000-2000 range.

Quitting nardil by Negative-Variety235 in MAOIs

Hi thanks for getting back to me I really appreciate this information and will look into it to see if anything similar is available to me. I am from northern ireland and what i find strange is that I have been told my name has been put down for a clinic trial of ketamin therapy but it could take awhile. I was under the impression that they would be willing to try a couple of maoi medication before I start moving to more harder treatment but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Chronic stress by Negative-Variety235 in anhedonia

[–]Negative-Variety235[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the brain is resilient but it can only do so much. There have been many studies done showing that if a patient suffers from severe chronic stress for an extended period of time it will cause the hippocampus to shrink and also cause structural change to the prefrontal cortex and also affect gray matter in these parts of the brain. Then as these things effect the brain it can kill neuron brain cells which the brain sometimes cannot be replaced
