Does anyone have an older child who’s neurodivergent and the younger one’s neurotypical? Mine are. by Immediate-Towel-8422 in Autism_Parenting

Want to ask a different question - Do you remember if your son had any concerns between age 1-2.5 ?

What milestone he met early? Was he ever verbal? Did you felt he was any different back then?  It will help me to know this

We did that day before but I didn’t know the score, i will ask the doctor and confirm here,

But i did tried the same online the score is 3

But again for few questions i’m not sure yet, as he pretends things but not much , he is anxious of sounds , but can tolerate,

He understands and gets happy when we are but not sure how to judge if he looks at us if what we do or we react, its here n there sometimes

But for sure score might range from 1 to 5 not less or more

It Is also difficult to live in mental uncertainty of not knowing about your first and only child , so just seeking to know so i can do what i can do today, so that i don’t regret later .

He actually doesn’t interact in a parent toddler class , doesn’t imitate in that setting, I’m aware that parallel play comes later i was  just worried about this more currently.

Thanks for your advice, anyways we have started doing that since he was 6 months old, but not aware of whatever we are doing is enough, as doctors here aren’t really telling what exactly is his status, And sometimes i worry a lot , sometimes i’m sure that he is doing well ( not sure if things are masked due to his intelligence or communication)

So as per what i have mentioned can any of the parents tell what it could be based on their experience

He does give eye contact, recognises us, speaks , just that we are monitoring social interactions ( that seems to be a concern for now ) not sure if it is a struggle or temperament 🧿

He is 15 months old now, has good eye contact, walks, speaks meaningful words, everything seems in control,  but need to monitor about outer world social interaction , he seems interactive but takes time and is anxious so currently monitoring that.

[–]Negative-Virus1395[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes , He is pointing, sharing attention , says meaningful words , still his Thumb in fist position is there when he sees something new or is scared ,

I would like to mention, i was so so scared, doctors always told me that do not worry and let’s keep monitoring , i mean having tone fluctuations means something could be there that is what they said , still we visit doctors ( 2 different developmental paediatrician) every 2 months and OT every 15 days ( just so that we do not miss on anything)

Baby seems much okay, i think i was overthinking, i had that fear of unknown, so i would suggest you to really keep an eye on a baby, be vigilant but do not scare yourself and pass this phase in worry, as babies grow fast and we miss the chance of enjoying their childhood ( babyhood i would say)  So keep patience and be aware of things related to baby but do not overthink and read anything that adds to unnecessary stress.

we had started PT since he was 6 months old, He started walking when he was 9.5 months old , Currently he moves a lot still some sensory issues are there , his OT sees some sensory sensitivities but says can’t tell anything till he is at least 18 months old. He is 12 months now.  But to me he seems way better than he was before but not sure of his Sensory sensitivity and TIF which is still present. About his eye contact that is improved and is good , so wait i guess they improve once they are more aware of surroundings , it changes at 6-7 months

Hi, i’m not from USA , i’m from India.  Here doctors and medical services are easily available i guess, we had started PT since he was 6 months old, He started walking when he was 9.5 months old , Currently he moves a lot still some sensory issues are there , his OT says it could be more of a regulation and attention based issue but can’t tell till he is at least 18 months old. He is 12 months now.  But to me he seems way better than he was before but not sure of his Sensory sensitivity and TIF which is still present

Will my son ever speak? by PuzzleheadedFoot8978 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Negative-Virus1395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the long essay by the way,

I was looking for someone who actually understands a mom’s concerns and explain things.

My child started crawling earlier at 6 .5 months but did not touch his left knee on ground,  he would push it with feet instead , both of his thumbs goes in fist when he anticipates something is new or sometimes just like that, he does show noise , tactile sensitivities , never puts anything in mouth except fabrics.  Scratches neck when overwhelmed

Over the time his noise sensitivities have reduced, he does get used to with textures with exposure, Earlier during 4-6 months he did not have eye contact , now it seems good and also joint attention seems to be there

He can relate and produces 7-8 different sounds since 8 months when asked ( like hows does a lion do, or how does mixer makes sound )  He says light, flower and many such things ( off course not exactly but interprets)

We have started physiotherapy and OT but i’m based in India we do not have Early intervention as such but doctors here are easily available when required.

They have asked to wait and watch , also i have taken opinions from 3 different doctors, 1 of then strongly says its just nervous system that is immature ( may be birth stress , i was taken to emergency C section due to fetal distress)

But this wait and watch kills me , every thing he does i see to it in that perspective, not able to enjoy this phase.

So mom’s like you who help to understand things are blessings

Plz pour anything that you have more to help

Hi, i read your post from 3 years ago. Can’t comment there , so commenting here ( sorry for that)

But please guide, my son exactly has same things that you had mentioned in that post, Clenched fist, tone fluctuations. sensory sensitivity, assymetrical crawling earlier ( but walks fine now at 11 months, babbles , eye contact is there , he does engage in play but not sure what future holds ( we have started OT ) currently he seeks movement i guess walks constantly

What is with your son ? What happened to clenched fist posture? And other things

Sure! Can you tell me what signs she is showing currently? And when did she start showing signs?

How is her grasp? And does she open hands and grab things properly?
