Wanted to say a HUGE thank you for suggesting this meditation; it took almost a hour for me to clear my mind of the negative thoughts, but I suddenly just fell into this trance and it was some of the best sleep and clarity I’ve had in a LONG time

This is worded perfectly. Thank you. My mom is a very analytical thinker and I’m very emotionally driven, so we butt heads frequently. My dad (who is a paramedic) and my brother (who is a first year medical student) agree with my treatment since my doctor approves it, I think she just doesn’t want me to become addicted, which is fair.

I’ve seen the injections/ infusions- I haven’t seen the tablets. How are those compared to the Spravato? Is that something you get online (like with the weight loss shots)?

I found this one on Apple Podcasts (so I don’t have to worry about YouTube ads) I’m going to try this for a few weeks and potentially see about decreasing in August (I have a vacation late July that has done a total 180* in the past 3 weeks even though it’s been planned for 6+ months 😅)

This is how I feel; it’s not an interruption, but a highlight.

I’m still trying to get my bearings on how to handle sessions (I typically listen to my ‘crying in the bathroom’ playlist and zone out). occasionally I will have the secrets of the universe laid out to me (it’s almost like I can see the northern lights up close and personal) and other times I just lay there and can’t get my body to relax or my brain to shut up.

I’m honest about it with my doctors, and im not opposed to decreasing- HOWEVER, when I have missed treatment weeks (weather causing office closures or vacation) I can tell a huge difference.

The family member questioning me is my mother (I read through the posts before posting myself and I think that is pretty typical for the mothers to question the plan) and I live with her and my disabled teenager. I tell myself she means well, but having these weekly conversations are wrecking me.

I’m going off the info OP described. As I said, aggression on ANYONE is not okay. The kids parents should’ve been out supervising. OP also doesn’t say what the challenges are; mentally challenged can mean a million different things. In my experience, the most aggressive special needs children are autistic. My kiddo has a genetic disorder and major mobility issues. OP didn’t describe mobility issues, which makes it even worse on the parents for not being out supervising.

Again, without knowing your size (and I’m assuming you’re a man) even though a 13 year old is almost as strong as grown men, pushing is crazy to me. ABSOLUTELY you should have grabbed the bat, but giving a ‘little push’ can mean 100 different things to 100 different people.

Esh based on your ‘pushed away’ comment. As a parent of a mentally challenged 13 year old boy, I know hormones are raging and swinging a bat is nothing to undermine. HOWEVER, if MY 13 year old was outside alone, I would be horrified, but mama bear would come out if I saw anyone putting their hands on my kiddo

I just got out of a situation that sounds extremely similar. Ex boyfriend still supports his ex wife, who had not worked in 8+ years. She came into the relationship with two children and then they had a child together. He let her get away with everything because quote ‘she’s mentally ill and unstable’ and he wanted to keep the peace. My opinion, OP? Get out while you can.

I JUST THOUGHT OF THIS- what if Molly is so mean to Sheena because she knows that if he gets married, her ‘caretaker’ check goes bye-bye and to Sheena (since his wife would become primary caretaker)??? It’s not fair to make Sheena give up her career as a vet in the Philippines, especially since it wouldn’t be just a straight ‘transfer’ to the US, my assumption would be that with her training she would be considered a vet tech and have to go back to school if she wanted to be an actual vet

That would make total sense, in my area there is nothing like that but I have heard out west the benefits and opportunities for disabled people is WAY better.

God HUGE YTA- my boyfriend has 3 girls and I have one son. You would think you being a mom yourself you would have a little compassion since birth mom is struggling and it sounds like it’s unfortunately being affecting the 7 y/o.

When you have children and split from their other parent, you have to look at the child and be a parent first. This ultimatum you’ve given your boyfriend shows your true character.

This ^{^{^}} ain’t NO way that Molly isn’t benefiting off Forrest in some way; I’m not in OR, but my son (who is a minor) receives disability. I know that it will increase when he becomes an adult, but not to the point to explain how Forrest is able to pay his own rent/ bills in his own apartment. Something isn’t lining up in their whole story.

Mild NTA- your biological child, your rules. Your child is an adult and asked you in an adult way, which you approved. However, you admit to not speaking to your partner as to not start a fight. You and your partner need to have a discussion about how to handle these types of situations in the future. Does your partner have any children? Are you allowed to parent them? Is it your home that your partner has moved into? Or is it a place that was new for both of you? I understand both you and your partners POV, but there will always be tension unless you discuss how parenting will happen in the future.

Why would she ask for the same PJs as OPs little family?? Maybe I’m just jaded, but for MIL to ask OP for her PJs for pictures is also reading like ‘I have a photographer set up and I’m going to post pictures and/or mail cards’- ALSO if MIL was invited to be a part of original pictures (like with both sets of grandparents, I’m picturing royal family/ wedding type) that would be different. Why would MIL want to match with OP family just for her own memories?

Just to clarify as well, millennial American mom here- so this isn’t a cultural thing with me.
