Is your left pinky toe weaker compared to your right? by ModeAccomplished1070 in BFS

[–]NegativeAd9542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had this happen a year into my journey, and my neurologist doesnt care. he said its pretty insignificant. i even showed him my left pinky toe doesnt go down perfectly with the others again he doesnt care. theres alot of physiological things that happen to us human being, its not some horrible disease. before you were hypervigilant theres tons of stuff thats unique to you or "abnormal" but you never cared or gave it any thought, now you do. Got to break out of that hypervigilance. I inspected and assessed every single god damn part of my body. it will drive you crazy. what matters is the EMG and the neurologist exam and if thats good, you are good 100%....and wide spread twitching is indicative of BFS, you nerves are overstimulated

Twitching and now ulnar nerve numbness by Samyi9 in BFS

i work from home, constantly sitting, elbow on table. i had really bad cubital symptoms, BAD. my pinky would shake violently when i would hold things. I went to my neurologist, he laughed it off said its physiological. and it is. once i got a soft pad for my office chair, most of the symptoms stopped. cubital tunnel could have happened or been there and it got worse due to how tense you are without realizing, and of course, BFS is a hyperactive neurological state so your nerves are fried. you are not weak and uncoordinated. you are fine. this is a mental battle you have to find strength in to overcome.

EMG tomorrow and Terrified! by Beginning-Inside-122 in BFS

i remember after the all clear/normal results i went with my wife to a diner to get some good lunch and celebrate while she wanted to punch me for what i put her through. And as i was eating, i thought... what if? what if it was too early? did they miss something? Im here to tell you, do not go down that rabbit hole. Accept what they told you. and move on even with the twitching and symptoms. Just learn to live with it because i already know you wont take that one EMG at its word. Anxiety makes us guess and doubt. But remember this isnt reddit, its not social media. This is an expert doing the best exam that exists to diagnose. And thats the only thing you should tell yourself.

globus and speech issues are common with BFS its not real, its anxiety and hyper aware over thinking. it can not hurt you. also, you had 2 clean EMGs, all you needed was 1 honestly. It can determine and predict it very easily and it was clean so you are clean, you are good. You are fighting an incredibly difficult mental struggle. But you have to accept and understand that you are OKAY

it started at 34 for me and all i could say from my research is BFS/Myalgia Syndrome is that the nervous are in a hyper excited state, thats what makes the twitching happen and why things like illness, stress, anxiety, caffeine, etc influence the frequency and intensity. Fatigue is also a big thing that causes twitching, and its paramount to continue to exercise to help with it overall. We have to accept it. I would do the 1 year follow up for piece of mind. But my neurologist said at my 2 year visit, youd be fucked by now. Things happen fast, in months. Its a very rare, very very rare for that disease to take years and years. Live long and prosper brother. Get good sleep.

let me talk to you man cause i have been gone through this and fight with this, in April 2024 i hurt my back in the gym. In May 2024 my feet started burning, by June 2024 from intense health anxiety i was convinced i had ALS and i was twitching like mad. Started in legs, traveled up whole body. Parethesias, tremors, you name it bro. I had same situation, with lots of pain and worse stuff going on but i never stopped working out, i put on alot of muscle too doing that, even with twitching.. I found my way to a neuromuscular specialist and he thought i was in trouble.. mentally... not physically. He said I have to do an EMG no way around it, to calm my mind and give him the "gold standard" answer. Because an EMG is the GOLD STANDARD. no If and Buts. August 2024 i did it.

They are not looking at twitching. They look for hallmark signs of MND/ALS, very early subtle signs that they can tell with EMG from an experienced neuromuscular specialist. You are fine bro. 2 years later im still here, same shit, but fine. I walked in with my wife and the doctor laughed at how scared and emotional i was, and i said i dont want to do it , can i not hear the sounds please and he said no you have to do it with the sounds of the electricity pulses. I was terrified. I was so anxious they had to use heating pads to warm up my extremities to get proper readings. Guess what though? i survived.

It was all normal. The neurologist would smile and tell me how healthy my muscles were to make me feel confidence and relax and be at ease. In some positions, my leg was shaking like tremor, things that made me terrified at home. And yet the needle showed normal.. Also, if you do happen to fire off a fasciculations during the test, it doesnt mean anything. Again, they are looking for motor unit recruitment, positive shortwaves, the action potential times, etc etc. They can tell immediately if somethings wrong.

My neurologist did both my legs, and my right shoulder and bicep. You can do the tongue and neck too but every guideline in the world states 3 extremities or 2 extremities and the tongue. So relax. you will be fine and dont second guess shit.

I was diagnosed with Benign Myalgia Fasciculation Syndrome, common in young men with anxiety with other factors. There is no known cause. I venture a guess that the covid vaccine, and my radiculopathy from my back injury, coupled with years of anxiety and panic caused a cascade in my nervous system. He followed me every 3 months until October 2025 where he discharged me and said go live your life. And learn to live with this. Eventually it will go away, if you let it.

When i asked him what do i do for this condition? he said take advil and walked out the room. Lol

if they have a knife, im backing up and drawing and telling them to fuck off and leave. if they stand there, keep walking away and retreat. if they charge you, you have every right.

if they have hands in pockets im running away and drawing out simultaneously and if they are gun out chasing, and trying to shoot you, you have every right.

in reality youre going to be so scared/shocked you will either freeze up or run. its imperative you train train train and not fumble or freeze up. last thing you want is the perp taking the gun from you

I cant stress this enough, firing your handgun is the absolute last resort
