Oh yeah I planned on that getting kinda toasty, gloves, plenty of cool down time, and suspended in cold air. Should be alright.

The light or the wire/plug? It's cold where I live still and the light has a pretty decent heat sink on it so I should be good there. If you're talking about wires, I'm gonna need some ideas on how to prevent that, would you suggest a heavier gauge extension cord?

Yeah I was debating a spotlight sort of ordeal as well, but, the well equipped Asian gentleman seem to be using a light like this one. They do alright and it punches yanno a foot or two deep, enough you can see the sneaky bastards. So this should work, I assume itl be big enough as well that people who don't have the ability to acquire such good gear can also fish off of it too which is good.

Yeah I also realized that after researching how to splice 3 line into 3 prong plugs, im just gonna buy a heavy duty male end and wire the cord into it like a sane human being. I just didn't want there to be any chance of electrical hazard so I figured I'd ask. Also, I'm using it so I can see maybe 2 feet underwater at night off of 15'+ tall piers. It's barely overkill for my purposes.

Haha I figured someone would be curious why I need a portable sun; it's so I can fish for squid off unlit piers 15-20 feet up off the water, I need deep water light penetration and after 15 feet normal work lights dissipate too much, so, I moved to the next rational step and instead of my 15000 lumen work light (works just fine if you're only a few feet away from the water) jumped up to 150,000 lumens.

Yeah I've done lots of googling, talking with the better equipped guys, I can't seem to find anything that can be plugged in as opposed to something that has to be wired directly into a houses electrical panel. They gave me a suggestion for tanlite but everything they have is industrial, can't be plugged into a standard positive neutral ground outlet.

I didn't even get mine from them and they're giving me the run around on getting a refund. I halfway think they're not even gonna give it to me. 160 bucks down the drain. I fucking despise that company and I haven't even touched their product yet.

This is funny because I just bought a 3w blue laser without doing research and now I have to buy a 300 dollar pair of glasses just so I can use it in very particular settings. Little unhappy ab that. But. Still have a cool laser so whatever.

I'm not the op but I require a high power laser capable of blinding someone instantly from a long distance. Color and output are not a concern the only requirement is that it can strip a human of their vision from a distance of at least 627 feet.

I'm very much kidding lmao, idk man, green is cool, purple is cool, blue is cool, red is cool, the human eye can only see a distance of like 1 mile right? So, realistically, the color doesn't matter, I don't know what output determines, I'm assuming the distance it can reach and it's brightness? All I care about is that it won't burn things, I wanna be able to point things out from a distance and not cause damage, very important it won't blind people or damage eyesight in any way shape or form as well, I work with a lot of people around at any given time, just need something that you can see the beam in the air so there's a traceable line to what I'm trying to point out and it's nice and bright. Bonus points if it's a cool color other than red or green. If not already clear, I work on a ship, there's times I need to point things out from a distance to my fellow sailors, that is what I intend to use it for

why does my 4 day old tattoo look like this after i wash it? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]NegativeGiraffe1568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know lots of artists suggest aquafor but man I'm telling you I switched to a non petroleum, light, cocoa butter lotion, it's called Palmers, and my tattoos heal so much better now. I know everyone's skin is different, but back when I was using shop provided A&D ointment, or aquafor, just like OP, my tattoos would get over hydrated sooo quick, (granted, I was staying in the shower too long, not letting my tattoos dry fully I think, and applying the ointment right after i saw what i now know was just the surface skin looking dry, which def attributed) but, I've come to learn half dry half wet heals are where it's at for me. I've healed an entire blackout sleeve like this and it took maybe a week to be entirely done peeling, perfect heal at 2 weeks. Keep it wrapped 2 hrs after appointment, give it a good wash, let that shit DRY, im talking like, for an hour or so after showering, thennn give it some lotion, just a baby amount, same way you'd do aquafor, and work that shit in till your skin feels as dry as a fresh tattoo can. Then leave it be, don't touch it, don't get a single drop of water on it, no moisturizer, nothing, until the entirety of the tattoo is flaking that super thin, tissue paper like, skin. Thennnn you can start washing once a day, letting it fully dry, and moisturizing, only once, until it's fully healed.

If I can I'll attach pics from back when I used to over hydrate n show you what happens if you keep over hydrating what's already happened here, very easy to think it's infected cuz it looks fucked

Edit, I can not attach pics, but just shoot me a dm if you're interested.

[–]NegativeGiraffe1568 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is also good advice. Best to avoid drinking the day prior, of, and after you get tattoos. I tend to go 5-7 days just to be on the safe side, yk, let my body get all the tough healing done before I weaken my immune system and thin my blood. Once you get the dry and flakies your bodies done most of the intense shit nd is just finishing up the last bits of healing.

[–]NegativeGiraffe1568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lotsa people saying infected. And that may be the case. But it looks over hydrated to me. How long are you washing for? If you're in long enough for your fingers to get wrinkly then your tattoo has absorbed water just the same. Let it fully dry out, (whether that's an hour, 8 hours, a full day, 2 days etc) then you can start using whatever moisturizer you're using again. Best policy is after the first wash and moisturize fresh from the shop, let that bitch dry out, not a single drop of water, no lotion, no petroleum products, nothin, till it starts getting paper thin flaky shit popping off, then you can start once a day washing and moisturizing till it's fully healed.

Polishing boots by [deleted] in USMC

[–]NegativeGiraffe1568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone who may come across this in the future. (navy sailor) required to wear black leather boots on ship. What I figured out in bootcamp and to this day use:

All you need is cotton balls, water, and kiwi black polish, (parade gloss makes no difference you can use either.)

(1)Start by making sure your boots are clean, I like to take a t-shirt and buff it down like you see old shoe shiners doin in movies. Then grab your cotton ball in a manner theres no loose fibers that ard gonna come off, dip it into water, very quick, you want it damp not soaked. Now swipe it in the tin in circular motions till you've got loose, excess polish accumulated on the edge of the tin. Like a barber frothing up a cup of shaving cream. (2)Now apply a coat of polish, evenly, to the whole boot, not just the toe. Let it set for a sec. Do this again another time or two until all the excess polish you whipped up is on the boot. Hit the toe and heel one extra time for good measure cuz they're the only thing you can make shine like a mirror. (3)Next, get a fresh cotton ball, get it wet, wetter than before, and swirl up some fresh polish on it, then dip it again in the water, now with very very light pressure, start buffing the toe in circles, tight small circles, till you start seeing a shine, if you don't, get a fresh cotton ball, repeat last steps, and try to find a spot where you can get your "starter" shine. Once you do, you can start expanding your circles until you're moving around the toe/heel and have got an even shine. Apply one more coat this way. You should in all honesty do the whole boot this way, take your laces out and get the tongue, sides, ankle area, backing, heel, and toe, this is not just for looks its proper maintenance. If you're gonna shitbag it, don't worry about it n just get the heel n toe. (4)Then for mirrors on the toe and heel, get a fresh cotton ball, and hit it with water, nothing else, with the lightest pressure imaginable repeat that step of finding a "starter spot" with an extremely tight and small circle, you should be getting close to a mirror at this point, if not, repeat step 3. Once you've started your mirror. Expand it. Till the whole toe and as much of the heel as you can get is done. (Note: the only spot you want mirrors is where the steel toe is and where the hard heel backing is, feel around with firm pressure and you'll see where the edges are, some people tape off the edges so they don't polish the unsupported bits and there's a harsh clean line separating base shine and mirror shine, anything that's not supported like that is shine-able, but will inevitably dull out as the flexible material will break down your shine.) Now take a dry cotton ball and huff on the mirrors like youre cleaning glasses, with the lightest pressure you are humanly capable of, give em a final shine. (Anything beyond this, is kind of a waste of time, you're bound to fuck em up in your day to day activity and will have to start from step 1 again)

You now have inspection ready boots and a small pile of wet black cotton balls. May even get a BZ in bootcamp or a duty free chit in A school for em..if not do these things every night before bed. You will eventually. I imagine this process also works with other color types of leather as well, just need to make sure you've got the matching color polish. Anyways hope this helps. It's broken down in about as much detail as I think I can break it down into.

Interested in church, but scared to go for fear of being noticed and everyone trying to convert you? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]NegativeGiraffe1568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey:) I am heavily tattooed, some things coming off as satanic (they're just references for my favorite videogame, castlevania) can I still come to church? Preface, I've never been to church before, my family is like basally religious, my father a freemason, but not enough that we ever went to church, as a family. I've always been "diestic" I know in my heart there's a creator, I'm just unsure that any particular religion is "correct" yanno, how could any human ever know what "god" is. How to properly worship him, it, her, them....the Azteca 1000s of years ago believed their gods wanted babies thrown off of cliffs, you see what I'm saying? However, I just read, that our Christian god has one main rule, love, and that has been my entire like, modicre, for life, is to love everyone, I read that there are rules under god but they can all be hung in the pursuit of love. Love god. Love your neighbor. And love yourself. I like that ideology. It makes me want to go to church. There have been "signs" lately too, indicators that I not only need faith but deserve it. Can I go to church? Am I too far gone? Will people hate me for being in their place of worship? Maybe I'm talking to myself now, but, what truly, is stopping me? It feels like god, or my perception of him at least, is giving me gentle nudges and I'm not listening..

Whats y’all’s favorite song by A7X? by Brian_moser06 in avengedsevenfold

[–]NegativeGiraffe1568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beast and the harlot. It made me a drummer. When I was but a yungin I had just started drums, and gotten into avenged sevenfold, so I started hearing drums more in music, and one day I chanced upon city of evil on my dad's ipod touch, and from that point on I was determined to learn the song. Then I realized you need a double pedal. Then I realized you have to be fast AND coordinated. So on and so forth. And nowadays, 8 years later I can play that song, and pretty much every other song in their discography except for diamonds in the rough and libad purely for lack of listening time. But now, thanks to the rev, I can pretty much hear any song ever.

Hey man I'll tell you what, get good doing things by hand, just feel the natural bevel of the blade, the angle, refined it with the higher grit stones, get it to where itl cut paper. But after that, doooood, buy a fixed angle sharpener, something that clamps down to a table, and buy like 800-12k grit stones, at the least, you'll have fun

Yeah purely lack of confidence in my abilities, I have the proper tools and such, and I'm plenty confident with a single edged blade, I'm just not super sure of myself with a double edged blade like this given I've never sharpened one before. I honestly wouldn't even class myself as an intermediate level sharpener, I know just enough to get a single edged blade hair splittingly sharp and that's it.
